Every year, we make the trek from Jacksonville, FL to Galveston, TX to drop my son off at his grandparents'. Along the way, we stumbled upon this little hole-in-the-wall spot that serves a gumbo so good, it etched itself into my soulābut not, apparently, into my memory.
Fast forward to this year: I had to find that bowl again. I run a social media page with nearly 100K followers and post 10ā20 memes a day, so my phone and cloud are basically a digital jungle. But I wasn't giving up that easy. After hours of digging, swiping, and squinting at blurry thumbnails, I found the photo from May of 2023. Thanks to the metadata, we got the coordinatesāand letās just say, this bowl of gumbos GPS is locked into the phones and we are now tracking it's location... š¤£
We're heading back today for that bowl of this magic. If you're ever nearby, trust me: skip the chain restaurants. This place is the real deal, tucked away and unforgettable (once you write the address down).

Absolutely love this place. Very good quality everything. The options are great too so if you don't want seafood their burgers are fantastic as well. Good place to watch sports and hang out. I like the music selection...a lot of Texas Country favorites. While all the servers are always great and attentive, they're typically understaffed for normal crowds so plan for a little extra time there.

All Very Good. Generous Plates. Best Sides = Salad w/Jalapeno Ranch & Loaded Mash Potatoes. Seafood Platter = Too Big (get a smaller 2 seafood plate). Best Meat = Grilled Shrimp & Crawfish (fried, unhealthy). Very Good = Fish / Jalapeno Hush Puppies. Burgers = Extra Huge.

The Crawfish Place serves up great food out in the middle of nowhere. The place has a delightful redneck honky tonk vibe. But even though my kids and I are all ādarkiesā (and their mama is a real-live, tropical Asian immigrant) we were treated very well.
I had the blackened catfish. It was terrific. My kids had a hamburger and a pizza. My wife selected a fried seafood platter. Everyone was pleased with the food they ordered.
My kids had big plans for dessert but the servings of their main courses were so generous that they couldnāt handle dessert.
We were all so full that we never even looked at the dessert menu so I canāt tell you what was available for dessert.
But I can tell you this much, we will definitely be back for more!

Always a good experience, food has been great for 3+ yrs and the staff is fast and friendly. Aside from 1 woman who comes in after church on Sunday mornings and berates the staff and asks them to constantly turn down the music, there's no better place in Anahuac.

The food took a really long time to come out (which they warn you "it's good food not fast food") However some of the seafood was small, undercooked and overpriced. The gator was overcooked. Honestly the only really edible thing our table got was the BLT and boudain balls
Yummy food. The fried oysters were among the best I've ever had. Staff was a bit overworked but very nice, just don't plan to be in a hurry.

Bandit revolts
Stumbled upon this little gem while hunting for a bite with my great-grandfather. We walked in, no wait, and grabbed a couple of beers along with the famed Hangover Burgers. Iāll admit, I was a bit shocked by the $20 price tag per burger, but man, when they hit the table, they were massive and downright delicious. We got them cooked medium, and they were spot-on. The staff was super friendly and attentive. If I find myself in this neck of the woods again, you can bet Iāll be swinging by for another round.
