Anyone that says the food here is good is honestly delusional or never had decent Tex-mex before. Friendly service, but $60 for 2 bites of food is crazy.

Man, what a disappointment. It’s a shame, because I really wanted to like this place. It started off great too, the hostesses were so friendly and cute. And I don’t mean cute as in romantically or anything, you could just tell they were fun girls excited about life and all smiles and hope and then… everything else was just a long sigh.
I got the Austin style enchiladas. I am not trying to be funny or precocious in any way, what was served to me was the exact same enchilada that comes from the banquet frozen enchiladas dinner. I don’t mean similar, I grew up poor with my father, those banquet dinners were a staple of my life, these were the exact same. In the Korean film Oldboy where the main character is locked in a room for 30 years, served the same dumpling his entire sentence and upon release hunts down his captors by following the taste, same principle. 10/10 for nostalgia I guess. Queso was alright, may have been the Tostitos dip, but I couldn’t really afford that growing up. Don’t have the same amount of recollection.
I spent 13 years in the service industry so I’m critical but I’m not unfair. I’m not going to namedrop the server “C”, but bro really needs to do better. After the 5 minutes we sat there before being greeted (no biggie) He brought our food out no problem, then dipped for about 40 minutes. Now I don’t like excessively over friendly service or small talk, literally just keep the drinks full and check in if the food is okay. Sodas were empty about halfway through this. Side note the waitress for the other table was with her guests four times in this absence.
I’ll talk directly to you now. I guess you saw a dude with 2 kids and didn’t think much of me, them, or our ticket total. Hey nobody wants to wait on kids right, and what kind of grown man doesn’t wear sleeves!? Look man here’s a tip in addition to the 25% I left you: check back, check down. Real simple service philosophy, and I understand getting in the weeds but it was 4:30 on Sunday, not necessarily peak hours. I didn’t hear the excuse you brought back, I think you said “they sent us somewhere.” No idea what that means. If you knew you were gonna be gone snag the girl waiting on the table beside you and ask her to give an update or keep an eye out. But regardless thanks for the to-go drinks, even if they were wrong.
There’s worse restaurants out there, plenty of them are better than this place too. My kids are 8 and 10 so they aren’t the harshest critics. They liked the rice, beans, and mini tacos and they always love when I let them order soda, they were real chuffed about that. I enjoy being with them so even with how much of a grey cloud this experience was, I had my little rays of sunshine with me. It wasn’t a totally bad time, with no thanks to the venue.

I attempted to eat at this place, but as soon as I walked in it was apparent they do not like solo diners. When I walked in I stood and watched two and three person guests get seated immediately before me with nobody waiting to be seated. It seemed welcoming and nice but as soon I stepped up and indicated table for one, the hostesses attitude changed and she started staring at her computer and seemed confused, she then indicated a table for one would be difficult and I would have about a 45 minute and likely over an hour wait. I said no, I will go somewhere else and she didnt care. I found a very welcoming place 10 minutes away that was outstanding. If you are a solo diner this place does not want you. I always tip generously so their loss.
Marianos's is Arlington treasure. The best Tex-Mex around. And if you are able, get The Mariano margarita.

Pow to the WOW this place is a Flavor Explosion in the mouth! Our server Elvis was on point! He recommended the Mar Y Tierra and that dish was out of this world good. I've never had bacon wrapped shrimp with cojita cheese and jalapeno stuffed inside that good. The steak was so darn tender and flavorful it gives Ruth Chris or Bob Steak and Chop House a run for their money. Margaritas were out of this world tasty. The salsa was good but the chips are way too thin. We'll definitely be going back here!
