One of the best burgers I’ve had in the last decade, hands down. Excellent service, delicious, fresh food, and beautiful, natural atmosphere. Will definitely drive from Dallas again to join one of their dinner events sometime!
Had a reservation for 5 at 5:00. Did a table wine tasting, ordered our meals and ate our salads by 6:15. Had to wait over an hour for our entrees to be served!!?
Stopped at this winery to celebrate a birthday! Our hostess was great. The drinks were really good and we enjoyed the music. The animals were a plus! If we’re ever in the area, we’d definitely go back.
On menu Sangria was listed as "fresh fruit and mint" turns out the cooks decided to add jalapeno. The waitress failed to disclose this and I'm allergic to peppers so now I'm suffering from a minor allergic reaction. Would not go back.

This hidden place was great for our trip. Foods were good, service was friendly. Nice view. Definitely we will comeback
This restaurant is in the winery at the Tara Inn. It's a rustic, casual setting behind the grand house/inn and has delicious food. The wine was pretty good -- our favorite was the Carriage House Red and we got a bottle with dinner. We ordered tri-tip and ribeye dinners and both came with a scrumptious cabernet reduction sauce. The brownie was particularly good for dessert with that red wine! Very friendly staff and chef.
The place is amazing, the service is lacking. Don't get the $26 charcuterie board! Don't go if you expect water, silverware or drinks that you ordered. Other than that, an amazing atmosphere.
The food was excellent. The steak was tender and perfect. But for $10.00 you get a tiny plate with the gnocchi. I will say it was very good just pricey. The food is expensive but service was good. I'm not sure if the health dept would agree that the dogs should beg at your table. But we were comfortable with it.
Cellar Door Restaurant @ Tara Vineyard & Winery So we joined a car club fall outting which lead us here for a late lunch. We were told that the chef prepared a special menu for us and gratuity was included in the prices. We first visited the 'Tara Inn' then walked up the hill to the winery/dining room. Note: parking is limited, with the exception of 3 cars, we all parked down the hill by the vineyards. The service was pretty good considering about 30 people were in the group ready to eat. However, the food was very disappointing... I had the "Steak Frites - butchers cut steak, parmesan fries and persillade." My other half choose the "Short Pasta - handmade campanella, Calabrian peppers, boar, plum tomatoes ann ricotta salada." Our two friends had the Short Pasta and the "Fletcher Meat sandwich double-patty, ETX tomatoes, 1015 onion, texas toast, garlic aoili." Note: the menu spelling above is exactly as it is on the menu (I have a photo) - what are 'ETX tomatoes' and a '1015 onion'?? My steak (med-rare) was appallingly tough & grisly - if that's a butcher's cut then that butcher needs a different job immediately as that person is not doing the 'executive Chef' @ Cellar Door Grill' (who should know better) any favours, seriously! Even the steak knife was not help with that lost cause. Not sure what was parmesan about the fries as that taste was MIA. Both the women at our table that had the 'Short Pasta' said it was too spicy and very gamey; I had a couple of their bites and agree - too strong a taste that it ruined the dish. So onto paying... the waitress came over with her automated tablet for paying the bill where it came up with a automated tip amount... So I enquired, 'we were told, not once but twice, that the tip was included in the menu price.' The chef had told our trip lead that, who then came by every table to tell us not to add another tip as it's included. The waitress emphatically responded, "No" that wasn't the case and urged us to add her tip as she wasn't getting one otherwise. She said she'd get the chef to come out and explain - no chef came out. I didn't begrudge giving the girl a good tip as she did a good job of getting the drinks and food out to us without too much of a wait. She was also very nice afterwards at the wine tasting that we tried after the lunch. The food - we'll pass. As we were out in the country, out of the metro-plex, I don't necessarily have high demands but I am always open 'amazingly good' and 'delicious food' - it just wasn't the case here with us. FYI Tara Inn has a nice old historic feel to it and was apparently constructed 1880's. The winery and wine tastings were very nice. but sorry this is no 5 star
I Came to eat at the restaurant and have some wine. I am traveling for work and was dying for some good food. They definite delivered. As a matter of fact, I think the steak is thebest steak I've ever had in my life! I compliment the chef as my meal was so worth it. $41for the filet with asparagus and potatoes. The wine was fantastic -I bought three bottles! They actually grow some of the grapes on site as it is a vineyard. My only complaint is they charge more for table side wine tastings. I travel a lot for work and find this rule pretty bad as if I am buying food, you should give me the tasting at the same price. I've gone to a lot of vinyeards and wineries and have never seen this rule. Also, you'd hould give the tasting free with the purchase of a bottle of wine as this is pretty standard. Besides that-service, food and ambiance was phenomenal!

Tara Vineyard & Winery Inn My spouse & I were extremely disappointed in Tara Inn having recently stayed in the carriage house luxury suite. Paying $$$$ for a week in a “luxury†suite was anything but luxury – false advertising on the website. Inn is in very poor condition needing a lot of “TLCâ€. Most importantly a huge liability! • Fire extinguishers not visible (found in a box under a cabinet) not dated? Nor any postings of location • Candles next to curtains, tables near books – wax drippings found on curtains, floors, pillows, table clothes, etc….. • Staircase: 1. landing floor weak in the middle - with a large tear where someone could fall, trip and or cause injury. • 2. Not lighted (bulbs burned out) – potential to cause injury • Porch 1st floor: 1. Nails exposed throughout – potential to cause injury • 2. Numerous weak boards – potential for one to cause injury • Rugs – no slip resistant backing. I almost tripped and fell from one of the cow rugs • Air quality – very poor. Mildew and musty throughout the house. Due to furniture condition. • Posting listed for emergency contact – but not for fire, tornado shelter, etc… Also, the website stated a complimentary breakfast – there was none. However, we did have access to the kitchen. Linens & towels were old and worn out – not “luxury†as stated. We could have saved $$$ staying at a hotel getting a free breakfast, housekeeping, and extras for a lot less. Housekeeping – little to none or no show. It appears as if no one has dusted in months? Years? One fireplace mantel was so thick in dust – my spouse wrote “clean meâ€. No cleaning supplies, broom, sweeper. Hard to find anything in the kitchen when most drawers are filled "junk" storage. Worse part – I question if our suite bathroom was even cleaned prior to our arrival?? Found used items in the shower and the jacuzzi was filthy. Mattress was lumpy – wonder if that too came from a second-hand store?? A shame that this Inn could be so much more inviting – who really want to sit on vintage chair or sofa that reeks of mildew. When the furniture could be easily reupholstered. Leaving was not an option after paying $$$$ - no refund. What shame for an out of state couple first impressions!
