The shrimp were a little rubbery from over-cooking but the service and atmosphere made up for it. We loved our family dinner there.

Edit: We returned for another family celebration. The seafood enchiladas were the best I’ve ever had. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was also spectacular. Our server Sara was absolutely fantastic. Loved it!

Absolutely loved this place. The best combination. Seafood, Mexican food, and live music. Service, food, and entertainment created the perfect atmosphere. My husband was not excited i made him take a pic before eating. Lol

A lot of the negative reviews must have been when they first opened and were still figuring things out. Their food is great, service is top notch. It’s a little loud/echoey but that’s to be expected from this type of place! Don’t forget to check out the live music too!

We went to the Tia Juanita‘s in Athens. There’s one in Waco while there was nothing wrong with the food. It was not as flavorful as I would’ve expected from a Mexican Cajun place. The one in Waco had a hour wait on a Saturday after lunch I would not wait more than 15 minutes to eat food here. My son said the best thing about the food was the raw oysters. Me and my wife and my son all had their specialties and they’re just wasn’t anything special. The shrimp and grits were nothing like the ones that I had in New Orleans. My wife’s blackened tilapia was nothing special and my son‘s blackened Ahi tuna, he said, wasn’t that great I will have to say the gator bite was really good. The drink they do have live music that wasn’t obnoxiously loud even though we were set right in front of a speaker. I would definitely go back to try their poor boys and fried baskets but definitely I wouldn’t wait very long to be seated.

The presentation on the food was really good
