The food is great and my order was ready soon. One of my favorite take outs in Austin.

I did not enjoy the food here. I’ve been coming here over the years since 2001.
Last I went the weekend after Thanksgiving. I got Sesame chicken with fried rice, Lo Mein, and Chicken wings.
The chicken tastes off…and if you get anything that is batter fried, you get more crispy batter pieces in sauce than you do chicken.
The rice had a weird freeze dried tap water after taste.
The lo mein was less than par and the beef was like jerky.
The chicken wings were soggy, not crispy.
They charge for hot sauce; they did not used to do that. I have not been to another chinese restaurant that does that.
The only good thing anymore is the portions.

Great prices and incredible amount of food given. So glad we tried it and will be back! We ordered orange, General Tso’s, and sesame chicken, along with some egg drop soup. Flavor was great on all, but egg drop soup was lacking a little (still would order again though because it’s cheap!)

I haven't been to this restaurant in many years. And now I remember why. Wow. Ordered vegetable lomein. They must've used old oil or something. Because it had the worst rancid taste and smell! Also, underwhelming seasoned. Ordered the Kung pao (accidentally said beef, because I don't like it) I wanted chicken kung pao, so I don't know if it would have been better than the beef. But the sauce was just so dark/heavy/thick and salty could not enjoy.

the ONLY good chinese takeout place in Austin

They know how to make their sesame chicken, and their service is amazing!! Props for the family business and effort their daughter puts in the call order

I’m convinced the bad reviews are fake. I’ve been coming to 1st wok for 4 years. I haven’t found any other Chinese take out in Austin that can even compare to this place. Every time I come here it taste the same (Amazing!) and the staff is polite, and it’s nice to see it’s a family owned business with the kids sitting doing their homework. You just can’t go wrong with 1st Wok!!!

Just had a solid dinner at First Wok (1st Wok) and it delivered. I ordered General Tso’s Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and Combination Fried Rice, plus an appetizer of Crab Puffs — the portions were generous, the sauce on the General Tso’s was just the right mix of sweet & spicy, and the fried rice was fragrant and full of flavor.

The service was friendly and efficient, even though it was a busy night. The place has a casual neighborhood feel — no pretenses, just good, dependable Chinese food. I’ll be back to try the Orange Flavored Beef and Sea Treasure Pot next time.

Just got take out, beef and broccoli and general Tso’s chicken. The food was hot and out in a timely manner. When I got home, bottom of one of the styrofoam containers was mushy. Chicken was hard and dry. Beef tasted rubbery and egg rolls were burnt. This place used to be good but has gone down hill.

We ordered take out from here in April and we were not impressed. We ordered some pretty simple dishes (shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and beef with broccoli) so I am not sure how they messed them up but they did.

Also, you could not eat in the restaurant, I am not sure if they changed that since then but if you are interested, call before you go, if you are trying to eat in.
