“We stayed at the hotel and ate at Carpenters Hall several times during our visit. Our very first dining experience got off to a rocky start initially, but Tamara the bar manager swooped in and turned things around immediately. She was so amazing: attentive, helpful, thoughtful, and just a lovely human! She took such good care of us all weekend long. We had our 4 year old with us and she treated him so kind- he just fell in love with her and so did we! She really made our weekend complete! As for Carpenters Hall, the food was really delicious, fresh and clean ingredients. The service the rest of the weekend at the restaurant was wonderful too. I believe the new ownership has turned things around here. We will definitely return!”

For date nights, we usually sit at the bar. The wine list is nicely curated, and the bartender’s recommendations are great. I didn’t think Texas had good wine until I came here.

When we have out-of-town guests, this is a great spot for a local Texas food experience. We love the focus on quality ingredients and wild game. The lard and sourdough are teriffic.

Brunch is also fantastic and worth checking out.”

“Overall, I had a good experience, but I don't think the pizza lives up to the rave reviews. The drinks, cacio e pepe risotto balls, and caesar salad, and homemade ranch were amazing. I tried the vodka pizza, and while it was good, I've had better elsewhere in town.

I do highly recommend this place for a date night. The tables are a bit close together, which reminded me of Paris, so there's little to no privacy, which I didn’t particularly like.

I would probably return for the appetizers and drinks, but it wouldn't be my first choice due to the high prices of the pizza and expensive add-ons—it just wasn't worth it in my opinion. Nonetheless, the establishment is super cute!”

“This was my first time ordering. The coffee machine was fast and accurate. You can order Hot or Cold, choose any kind of milk, add shots, add 2 types of Sugar and other flavors. Tip: After you complete your order you get a number, if you forget it swipe your card it will remember who you are. One of the other good features is, it will hold your coffee until you claim it. So if you have to step away, come back type in your number and Waalaa!! Your coffees waiting. I ordered a Carmel Macchiato Latte and boy😳 they did not on the EXPRESSO😣...Very 💪 Strong. “Normally I would never leave a 4 star review for this place. I have lived next door for 3 years, and I have seen this place go through many transitions. But at this moment, June 2024, I am so proud of them. I ordered a quick munchie box. It took 3 seconds to order it and have it delivered. It was a perfect box, organized and everything. The girl at the window, who took my order, also organized my sauces in a bag, I’ve never seen this at this location. My review is purely because of her. She was fast efficient, and had amazing customer service. I didn’t get her name, she was busy. But I’m giving it 4 stars (really it’s a 3 at best) purely because they’ve been on their game lately. “Just completed a tour of the Central Texas Barbecue Scene. Visited Snow's BBQ-Lexington, Louie Mueller-Taylor, Kreus Market, Smitty's and Black's-Lockhart, The Salt Lick- Driftwood and Franklin's in Austin. It was great seeing the venues and the family history at these historic sites. I visited Franklin's in the past and felt it was the best brisket I had ever eaten in my life. I am a skeptic when it comes to famous barbecue joints. I must say that Franklin's BBQ was far superior to all of the restaurants I visited with no one even a close second. Aaron's attention to detail from the service, choice of briskets, the cook, the wrap, the holding and even the slicing of the final product is evident in every aspect of his trade. I was lucky enough to run into him at the restaurant and he happily talked BBQ with me. Franklin's may not have the long history of muti-generational BBQ in Central Texas, but he has figured it all out at a level that I have yet to see equaled by the best venues in the country. This is a bucket list restaurant for those who really enjoy BBQ. It is well worth the wait in line”

The line was ridiculously long but they had free water available and they sent someone out to explain the menu and specials to everyone waiting! When we got in the door still waiting in line some cut brisket was put into a little bowl and it was passed down to all of us which was above and beyond! Their food is inventive, full of flavor, and so juicy! You can feed a full 4person family on their half platter which is what we got! While we were sitting down we were checked on and chatted with by the employees… we never felt like we weren’t cared about! This was my 2nd time eating at Interstellar and I’m a very picky eater when it comes to Texas BBQ as I had a favorite until it closed but Interstellar has become my new favorite and I tell everyone that questions where to eat or Texas BBQ about Interstellar!! This thing won’t let me post the picture so I’ll try to find a different way to do it!”

“We had party order from Sangam for our event during May 14th weekend for 3 courses (1 Lunch and 2 dinner) for about 100 people. Shiva was working with me and helped with the menu making sure none of the courses repeat any items including papad. He made suggestions based on our preferences and also guided us with the count and other details. Each of the delivery was made promptly at the requested time. The food provided was scrumptious and quantity was more than sufficient. Each of our friends were pleased with the food. “We went to Eddie V's for aour anniversary dinner. Our server, Donna, was friendly, offered recommendations when asked and was very professional. We started with the Ahi Tuna Tartar appetizer which was very fresh tasting with an avocado, mango and citrus sauce. Our filet and the filet medallions oscar style were both cooked perfectly and the crab fried rice with mushrooms and scallions was a nice side for the filet. The staff made our dinner special from wishing Happy Anniversary when we arrived at the hostess station, at our table and with a special dessert.”

“I want to give a shout out to a wonderful new restaurant here in South Austin, specifically the Brodie/Slaughter area. It's called The Local, and it's a delight. The decor is warm and inviting--no chrome or glass and no tvs blaring sports. We were pleased to see that the place was busy at 7 on a Tuesday, it's such a welcoming sound. The food was perfectly prepared and artfully presented, simple, no frufru. The service was terrific, sharp, prompt and helpful. We met the owner and were delighted to learn that this is not part of a chain or even a 'group' as they call them now, but a single family operation. We'd love to see them succeed, if only for the slightly selfish reason that it's nice to go to a good restaurant without having to drive a long way. It's just a few minutes down the street and you may be sure we'll be going back. We need more of these kinds of joints down here. Fair warning, it's not cheap, but then what is these days?”

“I dined here a couple weeks back, really cool experience. Our waitress was very responsive & gave really good recommendations and a whole run down on the menu. The ambience is very intimate and home-esque. The tables are close together but far enough to enjoy your own privacy. Everything about this establishment I adore. And then you have the best part which is the food. This menu is different, and I love different because nowadays here in Austin, when you go to restaurants, you get the same redundant stuff. But I love their menu selections. I got a smorgasbord of a bunch of different things because I couldn’t make up my mind lol. My girlfriend and I started out with the oysters Rockefeller, which is a take on the classic dish and it was amazing. It was decadent. It was rich and it’s like butter going down your Throat. We also got the hush puppies, which were a different style of hush puppies. Pretty sure they used blue cornmeal, which Really tied it all together and Set it apart from any other hush puppies that I’ve ever had. Then for the main dish, we got the rabbit, which is Unheard of, but it was out of this world if I could put it Into words, I would say you get almost taste to Pork, but it was awesome. There was a Dijon purée on the bottom of the plate, which was not super Dijon heavy it was perfect. It was creamy you get a little bit of acid in there. It was to die for. We also got the American dayboat snapper which was so decadent I loved it. If you are looking for a Non-pretentious style of fine dining. this is the spot. I will be back and I look forward to trying everything else on the menu.”

Easily the best selection of sugar free flavors in town. Pumpkin Spice ✅ toasted coconut ✅ fruit flavors ✅ any flavor combo you want they can probably make it sugar free or “normie” style.

A bunch of carb heavy snacks are available as well.

Vegan options abound. Keto options. This is a truly wonderful Austin local coffee spot.

Vegetarian options: Almost all options are vegetarian and a huge assortment of options for vegans.

Dietary restrictions: Amazing for all dietary needs. Keto. Celiac. Paleo. All can get drinks here. Just no keto friendly eats.

Parking: Free parking as a part of the strip plaza it is in.

Kid-friendliness: There are plenty of kid friendly and caffeine/free options. Italian and Italian cream sodas. Hot chocolate. Loads of carb filled snacks

Wheelchair accessibility: Not super accessible on the walk-up side. The parking lot it is in is in terrible repair and the window would be high for someone rolling up to place their order. Drive thru is a typical drive thru”

“I Have been bringing my son here for the lunch buffet on the weekends,and now he just turned 16. The staff know us well, and if something isn’t right , they fix it right away. Example- small kids :I do feel as they need to be at the table instead of being at the buffet wiping their noses or coughing and then grabbing every single spoon on the buffet. This happened and I told the owner and he immediately fixed it! He replaced every spoon and had a guy wiping the entire buffet area. I appreciate the staff and thank the kitchen personell doing a great job and sending out wonderful food!! I do wish the prices weren’t so high though. I was there every weekend when the prices were at $13, now it’s $20 on the weekends. Too high for me. Now I can only go there once in a blue moon. A nice variety of beers on tap, atmosphere was great, had a great Mexican food truck out there that rivaled what I would imagine a lot of Mexican establishments. Overall it was a great experience and neat brewery, if i was a local I’d visit more often.”

They also offer A-5 Japanese wagyu if looking for that.”

“Excellent food but tight seating was awkward as hell. Pros: So many creative vegetable-heavy options, it was difficult to decide what to order! Everything we ate was fabulous. Cons: We were on a date night (2 top) seated within elbow room (I'd say 1 foot) of another 2 top on date night. It was so awkward for the whole dinner to try to have a conversation with another couple basically at our table. I could not go back for that reason; they need to spread the tables out or take away some tables. Also the waiters were squeezing between these tight spots to deliver food so we had rear ends in our faces every time food was dropped off. Hope they make some adjustments so improve these two issues.”

I had the scallop and lobster asparagus risotto which was wonderful except the scallops were a bit dry. My friend's roasted chicken was cooked to perfection and we capped off the meal with the cheesecake. We'll definitely return & have steak next time!”
