“I had a sensational experience at Este recently. Everything I had was absolutely smashing. The tamarind agua Fresca was lightly sweet and refreshingly sour. I tad the tuna tiradito and am still thinking about the charred allium sauce it was served with. The swordfish tacos were a revelation, the batter was similar to a light and crispy tempura. The lime semifreddo was a creative take on a key lime pie, and the mango tamarind gelato was real treat. I sat at the bar by myself, so I got to chat with the staff throughout my meal. They were attentive and clearly passionate about their work, and most importantly, I could tell from the way they interacted with one another that Este fosters a thoughtful and supportive culture. They were so helpful and gracious with each other, acting as a real team. I was so impressed overall, and I can’t wait for my next visit!“

“The food was quite good. The dishes seemed well thought out, though the overall concept of the menu as a whole is somewhat strange, as there are a lot of non French items on the menu. Prices seemed a little high but not out of line. Our server was good. Food was brought out in 3 batches for our main course and sides, with 2-3 minutes in between batches which was annoying. The atmosphere was lively, but they had a DJ and the music was quite loud. It was a Friday night but it still felt excessive, as it was hard to talk to the person across the table while competing with the bass from the music.“

“We live out of town, but go to Austin frequently for plays/concerts at the Bass Center on the UT campus. We wanted something close by (10 minutes away) and light. This fit perfectly. The specialty drinks are amazing, and bar delection is good. The wine list is small, and nothing really special. The food is fresh, tasty and good portions. We each had the tuna poke bowl and a pavlova shared for dessert. The place looks rather plain from the outside, and has a euro-minimalist look inside. The waitstaff is nice and helpful. Our waitress was from Belarus, and most of the staff seems eastern European, which explains the Euro-bistro feel. HIghly recommend!“

Big windows, nice apropos music, nice clean, comfortable, plenty of parking, (which may change once this place gets too popular. ) This place has its own vibe - very hip, very NOT pretending to be - the hardly exists any more "weird" that Austin's new businesses fail so miserably at! It's a wine bar really, but they really know latte too. How well? Right at the Houndstooth, Medici, Cuvee Triannon level, well above Summermoon, Stouthaus, Jo's level. They offer a wide variety of wines to try, and they allow you to bring in food. I've seen folks bring in full charcuterie boards to enjoy with their wine. Be aware that these wines are fresh, so they have a bit of a different flavor than the wine you pick up at the store. Everything they offer is sulfite free. My favorite wine has been a whiskey barrel aged cab that is seasonal - try it out if you get a chance! PRO TIP: If you're hungry, order from Eldorado Cafe (another amazing local business) next door. “What a truly relaxing experience. My partner and I came here to have an afternoon for ourselves. The interior was so cute with comfy chairs and various spots to sit. We drank a few glasses of wine and beer and ordered some small plates. The Sauvignon Blanc was so crisp. The smoked Gouda pimento dip was really good. Service was amazing, attentive, and genuinely so friendly. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu.“

Hopscotch Wine Bar • $$

“We stepped into Hopscotch for an after dinner cocktail because The Golden Goose was too loud and busy for what we were in the mood for. Hopscotch was perfect. It's a quiet, cute little wine bar. The cocktails, the service and the ambiance were all stellar. We'll be back!“

“Was pleasantly surprised by this Bistro tucked in a strip center across from Belterra Village. They were understaffed so the service was a bit slow. But the smoked turkey sandwich with roasted bell pepper and avocado was really good. My friends also enjoyed the Burrata and Apple Pecan salads.“

“The Larry’s Bowl might be $15 + tip, but it is a delicious vegetarian dish… even without any protein. And a great portion for the price. Team Larry! My husband has loved their Philly Cheesesteak and burgers. Look forward to trying some of the succulent chicken options.“

“I frequent this cafe during the week and I must say that I appreciate the consistency in their coffee making skills. The staff has always been friendly to me and they have a great selection of food, coffee and many other drinks including wine and beer. I really like the breakfast sandwiches that the CapitolCafe has as well. The location of the Cafe is great as well located one block south of the Capital itself just off Congress ave. I like to grab a coffee and walk around the Capital on the weekends just because of the cafe being here. I would recommend trying them out and coming in with a friendly mindset. They are a hard working team.“
