50 Best Italian Restaurants in Austin

“Amazing experience 100/10. I celebrated my birthday here with 8 of my friends and we had the best time! Our waitress was absolutely incredible: very educated on the entire menu, always checking in, and very personable. The food was amazing! I would recommend the blue crab pasta, app bread, espresso martinis, and prosciutto! The ambience makes the experience even better.”

“My husband and I went for our anniversary and the staff was very welcoming and made sure to express congratulations. All our food was amazing. The whipped ricotta and focaccia is so creamy, light and flavorful. I honestly would not have been disappointed to have it for dessert as well. The hazelnuts on the carpaccio elevated the dish excellently. Our main dishes were the bolognese and duck risotto, both of which were extremely flavorful, layered and delicious. Absolutely would recommend any day.”

“Went to Mandola’s because we were looking for a good Italian place. I ordered the lasagna which was flavorful and fresh out of the kitchen. We also ordered the spaghetti. Some appetizers as well my favorite was the bread with the side of green sauce. This place has a great atmosphere, inside they have an oven where they cook the pizza which looks pretty cool, next time I’ll definitely be trying the pizza ? that looked promising ?. After eating they also offer ice cream for dessert and/or pastries. Definitely a great place to experience Italian food.”

“Siena is a delicious, consistent Italian dining experience! The Tagliatelle Bolognese is absolutely amazing, and the stuffed figs are a flavor explosion. My husband ordered the filet mignon, and it was grilled perfectly and braised with a red wine and mushroom demi glace. He also got to bring our friend's leftover chicken parmesan leftovers home ... another win! The atmosphere is wonderful, and our waitress delivered everything flawlessly. Highly recommend this hidden gem!”

“Deans never disappoints! Another fabulous dining experience with exceptional service. We've been many, many times but the BI rib eye, the husbands fav, was the best so far! And he orders it every time...cooked to perfection and taste beyond words. Roasted Bronzino was perfect as always. If you haven't yet....get the Limoncello Tart. One of our fav desserts in all of ATX.”

“We enjoyed our return to Asti. I am always happy with my Rigatoni Amatriciana (and getting a half-portion often works well for me, especially so I can comfortably enjoy more of their excellent bread! My husband got the pork special which was terrific. We're hoping they keep it on the menu or bring it back around. The staff--hosts, servers, cooks, managers--are all just wonderful. It's a great place for a special occasion, although certainly a comfortable spot for any day of the week.”

“In town for a volleyball tournament and found our way here. We are so glad that we did. This has to be one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. We had the Prosciutto and Goat cheese pizza. The first thing that you notice is the amazing dough they use. The center is thin and you have nice doughy edges to enjoy. On top of the amazing food, the staff was outstanding. With Jacob and Josh handling things behind the bar and on the floor, we couldn't have asked for a better experience.”

“Loved it, super neighborhood spot with good wines, home made pastas and wood fired pizzas. Glad this place was recommended to us. Was great to experience the Austin neighborhood vibe, could tell most of the parties around us were fun loving locals out for a fun dinner in a comfortable place.”

“My boyfriend and I always enjoy sitting at the chefs table. 10/10 service, your drinks will never be empty, and the food is immaculate! We've gone for our anniversary and birthday and the staff is so thoughtful to make your experience more memorable.”

“This is my favorite place to go out when down at office. Salads, sandwiches, calzones, and pizzas are all delicious. Service is excellent, and the staff is consistent enough that they know me and know my order even though I am work from home now so only in occasionally.”

“I came in at 9 pm. on Labor Day, and trust me.. I felt bad about doing it. I actually left the hotel and had a place in mind. Just like every place in downtown Austin, parking was ridiculous. After getting lost for a bit, I stumbled across this gem.Josh was my server. Super bubbly personality and gave the best recommendation for dinner. I ordered the reed side salad. AMAZING AND FRESH! Loved every bite. The Halibut is what Josh recommended, and SO GLAD HE DID! DELICIOUS! Crusted Halibut with fresh lime rice. The Halibut thicker than a snicker.. lovely and hardy all around. The rice had the lime sauce that complimented the halibut so nicely. There are no words. BRAVO CHEF! Loved everything about this meal. Hit every foodie spot. Among their fine food comes a fine wine list. All wines are listed from all parts of the world, including Italy, France, and Germany. There are so many to choose from for all wine aficianados. The ambiance was super inviting and relaxing.. even coming late on a Monday. I sincerely appreciate that! Dimly lit and overall an intimate experience. I highly recommend this gem! Until next time. :)”

“Our server Matias was attentive and a professional. Matias was very well versed in the menu and made amazing recommendations. The food and atmosphere just made Quattro Gotti feel like home. We will definitely be going back and Matias has made us customers for life. The owner also stopped by to thank us for our business!”

“This is a GREAT! Old world style pizzeria...it's small and in downtown Austin and walking distance from most of the hotels. Would highly recommend. Seating is slim bcuz it's a small space but don't let that detour you.Vegetarian options: There are make your own style options as well as vegetarian style pizzas....salads as wellKid-friendliness: Cheese pizza or any other combination can be made”

“Service was out of this world. Wine recommendation was on point. The dishes that were good were SO delicious, flavorful, and OMG-inducing—dishes I will absolutely go back for. Two dishes we ordered (half the meal) were bland and boring, which made me wonder how they came out of the same kitchen. They weren't bland in comparison—I would've thought this no matter where I was, making it even weirder to get them here.”

“Our favorite Italian restaurant in Austin. Love the food, service, atmosphere. Easy parking. It is very convenient to the Long Center, so we use it for a nice pre-concert meal for Austin Symphony performances. The restaurant lives up to its name. We feel we could be in Milan or Florence while we are there.”

4.5Superb728 Reviews

“Took our Italian Exchange student here to see if we could find authentic Italian pizza. He was so excited to get to speak Italian to the people there and he loooooved the pizza. Both the savory and the Nutella. Had a great visit and will definitely be going back!”

“Seemed to be an "off" experience for an otherwise fantastic restaurant and location. Multiple things went awry at the end of the meal.... Two Budinos ordered and one was clearly different.....color, consistency [grainy...?] etc. Totally tasted the same but the grainy texture was...not right. Waiter was TOTALLY cool and got another one brought out... Then the checks were a bit off [other couple got the 3-course for $35 meal, +small upcharge for certain dish] and essentially, the price was never corrected to $40 for the three items and after waiting for a true 15 minutes all we got was a whelp, oh well. NOT a huge deal, just, get it right... Our check [there were two couples] showed $47 and change when we gave our credit card, then when it was swiped and brought back for tip + signature it showed $57 and change......? Again, waiter was notified and corrected the bill.... Just kinda off for a mainstay we love to go to. We will go back and hopefully some kinks are worked out!”

“Love this place, but there was inconsistencies with the food. The chicken parm was very good, but the pasta that came with it was very bland and cold. Bread sticks were delicious, but the Cesar salad was drowning in dressing and the lettuce had a few brown spots. Wine was great and I enjoyed the live music. I'll give this place another shot because I did enjoy the overall experience.”

“This place has excellent authentic Italian dishes featuring homemade pastas and dessertsOver last few years I’ve continually enjoyed the following:Gnocchi GargonzolaTagliatelle with House beef sauceCaserecce with broccoli and sausageMaccheroni with creamy sausage and mushroomsSpaghetti CarbonaraLasagna Bolognese w Parmesan (I took this one home to bake. The cheese made an excellent topping Inside very creamy.I’ve enjoyed canollis, tiramisu. Both excellent and made in house.Vegetarian options: 12 vegetarian options on menu pesto; Gorgonzola etc. mushroomsParking: Parking is peripheral of thicket. “If you go in and the music is loud, your sandwich is about to be AMAZING. The two young guys behind the counter know what they’re doing. They’re pleasant but don’t expect much conversation, they keep it short and sweet and I can appreciate that. The philly is my favorite, i get it every time, no onions, extra cheese, side of mayo. The half is PLENTY for an adult, but get the whole if you want to save some for later.”

4.5Superb283 Reviews

“Food: outstanding. Service: terrific. Environment: LOUDDDD. It's unfortunate because it's not like music was playing too loud, but the space seems small for the amount of people that were there. Maybe it's where we were sitting, but I had a subpar experience because I had to yell at my date the whole time. I suppose it could help to have booths and not those open tables everywhere. everything else was awesome.”

4.3Superb1149 Reviews

“We had a fantastic experience at Il Brutto! Tomas, our bartender/server, was truly outstanding! He was so attentive, friendly, laid back, professional, and a million other positive adjectives that I could use to describe how awesome he was. He made our whole experience absolutely fabulous! Now, let's talk about the food! It was AMAZING!! We had mussels and a margarita pizza...and both were mouth-watering bits of heaven! I would give this restaurant and its service 10 stars if OpenTable would let me! :) Thank you for a wonderful evening and delicious dinner!”

4.3Superb1092 Reviews

“Everything was pretty good. I wasn’t personally crazy about the bruschetta but it was just my preference. Would have rather been waited on instead of ordering at the counter. We were glad to be able to try it without having to be at a food truck in the heat.”

4.7Superb123 Reviews

“Waitstaff was amazing, patio seating was very comfortable and of course the food hit the spot. I will say it’s a bit more of an up charge than normal, especially on the deserts they outsource from the Cheesecake Factory. Overall delicious if you’re ok spending a bit more than usual, especially with family and friends.”

4.4Superb305 Reviews

“There was a lot of wine and you could order flights to taste aplenty. Nice vibe. If I was rating this restaurant on the crispy Brussels sprouts alone, it would be a 5 hands down. The other food was good (but not exceptional). The service was surprisingly slow and inattentive. There were some great options on the menu, so I would give it another shot (if I lived in Austin).”

4.3Superb694 Reviews

“Not too many places you can get arancini in Austin. And theirs is SO ooey gooey delicious. Good, wood-fired Neapolitan pizza is rarity is most towns. Add in great pasta, super friendly and courteous service and a cute, cozy atmosphere make the Backspace a real find.”

4.4Superb269 Reviews

“Great little place with good food and nice atmosphere. It's small so be prepared to wait and their parking lot is small so get there early if you want to park in front of the building. Waitstaff was knowledgeable and attentive and it's all and all a cite little gem that I will be coming back to.If you're wondering, they do have outdoor seating although in all this heat not sure if you want to sit out there.”

4.3Superb509 Reviews

“I can't believe I haven't eaten from here as long as it's been open but I finally did and I have to say it's the best homemade pizza in the city! Nothing compared to these franchises! The pizza has a different taste of its own and highly recommended!!”

4.4Superb230 Reviews

“We ordered the pizza margherita and Cody's special -- it was loaded with toppings but the crust was still perfectly crisp and chewy. Their slightly sweet pizza sauce paired well with the salty, spicy pepperoni. #1 pizza place in Leander! We'll definitely be back-- highly recommend giving them a try.”

4.3Superb487 Reviews

“Extremely good and high quality subs.Bread isn’t always the softest but it’s good quality and tastyStaff are competent and not what I’d call UNfriendly, but certainly no one would call them friendly.Atmosphere is just your typical tables in a lobby, just a place you eat if you’re hungry and cant eat at home or don’t want to eat in your car.Cleanliness inspires confidence. Not cheap. And a drink and chips are like 5 MORE bucks. But hey it’s good food.I will definitely come back, but probably just to pick up my hopefully pre ordered food as I do not like feeling like I’m bothering someone when their entire job is to service the customer.Support local by eating here.Parking: Plenty of free parking spots are narrow but there are about2 football fields worth of parking.”

4.4Superb187 Reviews

“One of the best freshly made pasta with great flavors. My all time favorites are Bruschetta and Garlic bread. I tried Lemon flavored pasta (forgot the actual name) and it’s a plate with great flavor.I always ask for extra sauce in my pasta, even though they charge extra money, it’s elevate the flavor to next level. Not just food but overall the ambience and love for local food trucks never disappoints this place. They alternate the pasta types everyday so it’s never boring for a same flavor pasta ?”

“Enjoyed lunch here a month ago so much that my wife and I came back for dinner earlier this evening. I regret that I did not get our server's name because she was delightful. Friendly and attentive staff overall. Enjoyed our meal very much and although there was a bit of noise surrounding us, it felt very cozy at the table for two.We started with some olives and mussels. Excellent olives. Nice portion of mussels in a light white/seafood oriented broth. We split two quail for dinner which were delicious. The root vegetables were perfectly grilled, and the haricot verts were also tasty.Tonight, Thursday night, is half-price rosé bottle night. We enjoyed a bottle of rose at an excellent price. My Americano for dessert was strong, which is how I like my coffee. Really nice meal!”

“Best NY style pizza I've had in Texas! We ordered a large pizza online for pick up on Labor Day at about 2pm. Went inside to pick up the pizza. They were super friendly. Gave us paper plates, napkins, Parm, and red pepper flakes. Pizza was ready and being kept in a heated cabinet. Sat outside at one of the shaded picnic tables to eat. It was busy, but luckily we snagged a table. Loved the pizza. Crust was crispy and chewy. So good! There is a water dispenser with cups outside near the walk up order window. You can also just walk up and order pizza by the slice and they'll call your name when it's ready. They have some designated parking spots down Elizabeth Street next to the church there. Don't forget to say hi to Willie on the wall.”

“The food was amazing from start to finish. The burrata appetizer and meatballs were so delicious. The focaccia bread had the perfect crunch and flavor. We all had raviolis and they were so freaking good! They are very full of cheese and the portion is generous. Everyone enjoyed it totally. This restaurant is a great spot for an incredible dinner before a show at the Zach Theater. We will be back for sure.”

4.4Superb140 Reviews

“Found this gem on Google and went based on the reviews. Sat at the bar per personal preference. Bar has hooks for your purse. The Caesar salad was good with homemade crutons and dressing. The calamari was a bit overcooked (gummy), but the stuffed ravioli was delicious! The wine selection is diverse. Although, there's only 4 sparkling wines to choose from, 2 white and 2 rosé. However, all of which are excellent. The service was good. Limited seating, so reservations are recommended. They have plenty of intriguing signature cocktails and a full bar with lots of top shelf choices. We are definitely returning to try the bruschetta and escargot appetizers.”

“We made a last-minute decision to eat Italian after visiting the Capitol building. Everything was reasonably priced for the quality of the food and presentation. The food was really good and hit the spot, but I must say our server Carlos was superb! He enthusiastically answered all our questions and visited the table enough to make sure we were doing well but not enough to be a nuisance. I'm so grateful for his excellent service. My only reason for a 4 star is that the restaurant was quite loud. It is a restaurant, so that's to be expected, it was just a bit overwhelming for me. I did find it odd that only the servers had to wear uniforms, and the bartenders and hosts didn't. That kind of threw off the ambiance and aesthetic.”

“Phenomenal experience. Modern vibes that anyone trying to be as cool as 90's babies can have on the west side. So much work clearly went into their recipes. Not a place to recommend to enemies or "opps" of any kind.Catch a vibe”

“Had a girls night out dinner here with 5 other girlfriends and it was great! The bread and butter… I still can’t stop thinking about it. The food was great though and definitely easy for sharing with a group. We had a combo of salad, pizza and pasta and everything was delicious! They had a larger wine list and affordable selections if you’re not looking to break the bank.We had a reservation and they seated us promptly. The space isn’t huge so more of a cozier, intimate setting. We ubered so I can’t speak on parking. Overall we had a great experience and would def come back - especially for more of that bread and butter!!!”

“Great, great pizza spot in north Austin. Inside and outside areas, large bar area, and lots of seating. Great tap menu but this is not Full bar place. Pizza was great, Cesar salad was fantastic, and beers were cold.We really love the service and they have great specials too.”

4.3Superb179 Reviews

“We used to debate about whether to have takeout pizza from the Brick Oven on 35th Street and CraigO’s in Balcones. With the Brick Oven gone we buy all of pizza from CraigO’s. It is excellent. We usually order the large on a thin crust with pepperoni, Italian, bell peppers, and fresh onions because the marinated onion tended to make the pizza moist. We often freeze the leftovers and its almost as good as it was when it was fresh. The seating area is tiny and is all right but taking the pizza home is much better.”

4.3Superb173 Reviews

“Olive and June was a great experience and the food was excellent! The Papardelle was delicious as was the duck breast. The blistered green beans were a hit with the table; only semi-miss was the brushchetta; basically served on a regular baguette and was difficult to eat. Tasted good but the difficulty in eating it took away from that. All in all, a great way to spend a birthday evening!”

4.2Good649 Reviews

“Once again, another great dining experience! Great food, great service! We had family visiting from California to help celebrate my son's birthday. Ray our server went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and well taken care of! Thank you so much Ray for the laughs and great evening! Primo, we will be returning! :”

“I can’t say enough good things about Mia. I really don’t want to, though, as I’d prefer to keep it all for myself. They deserve the credit and praise. The incredible food, friendly service, and simply elegant and unpretentious decor keep me coming back again and again.Vegetarian options: While not vegan, the non-meat entrees are excellent and vary from typically offered fare.”

“Cute little place. Came for dinner on a Sunday evening. Even without the reservation, we were able to find a spot for 4. It was busy. The pizza was very good and so was the burrata we ordered. Also ordered hazelnut chocolate budino and was very good.”

4.2Good354 Reviews

“One of the staff at JW Marriott recommended this as the perfect place to senrgize and dine in an authentic Italian environment. We were not disappointed. The owners are from Northern and Southern Italy. Dishes are prepared in both styles! We were blessed to have Matt as our server! When you come, ask for Matt. He walks you through the wine selection... incredibly amazing Italian wines, his recommendations for food based on our food choices was spot on. We will return. If you are in downtown Austion, this is a must stop!”

“Very pleasant young man Blaine welcomed me in the door. The rest of the staff are great too, but the food makes it even better!!! I tried one of their beers on tap it had really nice flavor, took me back to another time. This is a nice place to come by yourself or bring the family. Easy close up parking.”

“I had an amazing experience the last time I visited dollar slice club! The manager, Miles, made the experience even more extraordinary. He walked me through what I should order and was a pleasure to chat with. Another employee, Collin, also made the experience so much better! He gave me a warm welcome and was super helpful. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to try some tasty pizza!!!”

“Deep dish is definitely their bread and butter. Their New York style and hand-tossed aren't bad, but the deep dish is the star. I get their thin crust pretty often and it's solid too.I've bought a lot of pizza from Jet's over the last couple of years. They run a deal on the website, $20 for a large pizza that's way better quality than the big chains. Reasonably priced and they always have it ready quick so I'm in and out of there fast. Not sure what else you can ask for from a pizza joint.”

“I had the drunken linguine and it was fabulous. I am picky too. It honestly was one of the best things I have eaten.Yes the flatware was cheap but it still managed to shovel food into my mouth. They could do some very small things to uplift the restaurant but the food is what I come for and I enjoyed it immensely. On my next trip through town, I’ll be back to try other things on the menu”
