“I swung by Terry Black’s this morning to pick up a big order of barbecue to take to friends in California, because they need to know what the very best barbecue in Texas tastes like. ❤️⁣ ⁣ Chad, Sharon, and Kait were so helpful behind the counter, making sure everything was wrapped perfectly for a travel cooler and ready to survive a flight, complete with reheating instructions for when it arrived.⁣ ⁣ What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. They took the time to visit with me, answered all of my questions, and made the whole experience feel personal instead of rushed. We ended up having some great conversations, and they even let us sample a few things before we decided exactly what to order.⁣ ⁣ The food is phenomenal, but the people are what make you want to come back. Texas barbecue is about more than brisket, it’s about generosity and making people feel welcome, and this team absolutely nailed it. Can’t wait to share a little taste of Texas with my California friends.“

“Just completed a tour of the Central Texas Barbecue Scene. Visited Snow's BBQ-Lexington, Louie Mueller-Taylor, Kreus Market, Smitty's and Black's-Lockhart, The Salt Lick- Driftwood and Franklin's in Austin. It was great seeing the venues and the family history at these historic sites. I visited Franklin's in the past and felt it was the best brisket I had ever eaten in my life. I am a skeptic when it comes to famous barbecue joints. I must say that Franklin's BBQ was far superior to all of the restaurants I visited with no one even a close second. Aaron's attention to detail from the service, choice of briskets, the cook, the wrap, the holding and even the slicing of the final product is evident in every aspect of his trade. I was lucky enough to run into him at the restaurant and he happily talked BBQ with me. Franklin's may not have the long history of muti-generational BBQ in Central Texas, but he has figured it all out at a level that I have yet to see equaled by the best venues in the country. This is a bucket list restaurant for those who really enjoy BBQ. It is well worth the wait in line“

“My wife and I visited last Wednesday on our vacation from Minnesota. The brisket was great, the barbacoa was the best I've ever had anywhere. The onion rings were amazing and I don't personally care for onion rings. The jalapeno cheese chorizo was outstanding. As good as all those were the beef ribs were the best most perfect bite of food I've ever had... But what really stood out is the amazing staff from Evan greeting us as we walked in the door to everyone that we met so helpful kind and cheerful! Having worked in the service industry for most of my life it's always a joy to be treated so well!“

“Don’t sleep on the pork biscuit. IMO definitely better than the brisket. The pork biscuit had more flavor and fat to combat the biscuit. Can’t forget about the cinnamon biscuit rolls - definite must! Go buy a coffee in Radio cafe and eat there to avoid the heat.“

“This is hands-down, my favorite restaurant in Austin, if not honestly, the world. We come at least once if not twice a week the menu is extremely diverse in the staff are just absolutely delightful. We love Carmen, jasmine, Enrique, anola, Luis, BZ, Jacobi, and Adam. 10/10 reccommend“

“We’ve probably been coming to Rudy’s for the 15 years since we’ve moved here. How delightful is it that it’s part of a gas station? Then there’s the playground out back. The cheeky signs and staff add to the charm. The barbecue is consistently and always delicious.

I recently started to order ahead for busy weeknight dinners and huge shoutout to the team who runs the curbside. The first time I forgot to say curbside but they let me stay in the car anyway. He brought out the food FAST, was super friendly and wanted to see if I need d anything else. Same thing the second time around- we got there a lot earlier than anticipated but took care of us fast. I really appreciate the hospitality and kindness y’all!

PS- the bbq sauce fits in the car cup holder. 10/10. 😆“

Brisket was perfectly done, slaw was amazing and I can’t find the words to accurately describe how good the jalapeño bacon Mac n cheese was. Topped it off with a local lager and it was amazing lunch. “Super quick service, down-home comfort, and delicious food here..! Ended up with extra time in Austin, thanks to an Amtrak delay, so decided to walk in for a 4-meat plate. From the moment of planning, to day of the event the staff was beyond incredible in all aspects. The food was abundant and fresh and hot, and delicious. Whatever we needed the staff was on it. “Holy Cow! Brisket at Switch Barbeque in Dripping Springs is some of the best you will have in Texas. The chopped beef sandwich is a generous portion. tithe potato salad is so creamy and tasty you need to make sure you get it. Burnt Ends! These are not covered up with some sugary stuff to make them taste good. They are stand alone. Our waiter Barry was outstanding and the beer is served in frozen mugs. Can you get better than that? It would be difficult.“

“I got the two meat plate with bbq beans and collard greens and this was my very first time eating your bbq and for the most part everything tasted great minus the collard green and I loooove collard greens and I was very disappointed after trying them. They were very mushy and the flavor didn’t taste good as well but doubt it if I’d get them again unless they’re revamped but great job on the rest of the food“
