“I swung by Terry Black’s this morning to pick up a big order of barbecue to take to friends in California, because they need to know what the very best barbecue in Texas tastes like. ❤️⁣ ⁣ Chad, Sharon, and Kait were so helpful behind the counter, making sure everything was wrapped perfectly for a travel cooler and ready to survive a flight, complete with reheating instructions for when it arrived.⁣ ⁣ What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. They took the time to visit with me, answered all of my questions, and made the whole experience feel personal instead of rushed. We ended up having some great conversations, and they even let us sample a few things before we decided exactly what to order.⁣ ⁣ The food is phenomenal, but the people are what make you want to come back. Texas barbecue is about more than brisket, it’s about generosity and making people feel welcome, and this team absolutely nailed it. Can’t wait to share a little taste of Texas with my California friends.“

“Just completed a tour of the Central Texas Barbecue Scene. Visited Snow's BBQ-Lexington, Louie Mueller-Taylor, Kreus Market, Smitty's and Black's-Lockhart, The Salt Lick- Driftwood and Franklin's in Austin. It was great seeing the venues and the family history at these historic sites. I visited Franklin's in the past and felt it was the best brisket I had ever eaten in my life. I am a skeptic when it comes to famous barbecue joints. I must say that Franklin's BBQ was far superior to all of the restaurants I visited with no one even a close second. Aaron's attention to detail from the service, choice of briskets, the cook, the wrap, the holding and even the slicing of the final product is evident in every aspect of his trade. I was lucky enough to run into him at the restaurant and he happily talked BBQ with me. Franklin's may not have the long history of muti-generational BBQ in Central Texas, but he has figured it all out at a level that I have yet to see equaled by the best venues in the country. This is a bucket list restaurant for those who really enjoy BBQ. It is well worth the wait in line“

“My wife and I visited last Wednesday on our vacation from Minnesota. The brisket was great, the barbacoa was the best I've ever had anywhere. The onion rings were amazing and I don't personally care for onion rings. The jalapeno cheese chorizo was outstanding. As good as all those were the beef ribs were the best most perfect bite of food I've ever had... But what really stood out is the amazing staff from Evan greeting us as we walked in the door to everyone that we met so helpful kind and cheerful! Having worked in the service industry for most of my life it's always a joy to be treated so well!“

Brisket was perfectly done, slaw was amazing and I can’t find the words to accurately describe how good the jalapeño bacon Mac n cheese was. Topped it off with a local lager and it was amazing lunch. “Super quick service, down-home comfort, and delicious food here..! Ended up with extra time in Austin, thanks to an Amtrak delay, so decided to walk in for a 4-meat plate. Very hospitable service from the GOAT-level server Juliette, she made sure everything was great! “I have to admit Kelsey is the best! thank you so much for your great customer service and letting us sample the difference between brisket moist and brisket lean. That was new to our understanding of different types of brisket. She and her staff were friendly, they served us hearty portions of the value package meal we had ordered, the tea was fantastic not overly sweet and not too sour. Well made tea. Oh and that inhouse made sauce omgoodness it was delicious I skipped out on the bbq sauce and just had me that sauce Lol! If y'all in that area and haven't tried Texas Traditional BBQ, its a must you will not regret. affordable, delicious and good people. Made our evening delightful ☺️ Thanks again Kelsey! “The sausage plate was great, and the baked potato was large and had all the sides that it needed. My cashier Bobbie Jo, sure did a wonderful job suggesting all the fixings that I needed. The lobby was clean and all employees were nice. I’ll be back again I guarantee it.“

“We got 1 & 1/2 Ibs of brisket and cream corn and 2 bottled drinks. We had enough leftover as well. We were able to watch them slice the meat when we ordered. Absolutely adored the service we received and they checked in on us while eating. Brisket was moist and flavorful and with the cream corn it was delicious! All items were neatly placed in a tray with napkins that we could carry to our table. Condiment station was well stocked and clean. Plenty of seating and parking.“
