About The Green Mesquite BBQ & More

The Green Mesquite BBQ & More offers a totally different vibe from Black's up the road, more relaxed with less waiting in line. It is a true Austin treasure and an Austin institution where the food is consistently delicious and the staff always make you feel at home. Great bands and a fun vibe make it a definite go to. Walk in the first time and be welcomed as an old friend. The chopped beef sammich was good with plenty of meat, and the spicy BBQ sauce is recommended. Best wings in Austin, and the okra was so good. The roasted ribs are perfectly cooked with tender meat and great flavor. Everything is very well served, in good portions, at a good price, and with excellent flavor. The only downside was a missing sweet tea, but otherwise the food was excellent.

Super quick service, down-home comfort, and delicious food here..! Ended up with extra time in Austin, thanks to an Amtrak delay, so decided to walk in for a 4-meat plate. Very hospitable service from the GOAT-level server Juliette, she made sure everything was great! The food was much better than what I can get on the Texas Eagle going back to East Texas, hands down..

What a great meal! From the chopped brisket sandwich to the sliced brisket, chicken, and especially the pork ribs—wow!
Everything was so tasty! The portions are generous and the wait staff and service were spot on. Our guest from France was equally impressed. Cozy, low key vibe with great food and service—who could ask for more? Will be back!

Nothing but the iced tea and the wings were not horrible. The catfish Po Boy was constructed badly, the catfish was ok and the jambalaya was so-so. But, how do you fuck up fried okra? You serve it cold, flavorless and with the breading falling off with no crispness.
