“Absolutely an amazing place! Food and drink are incredible. Duck Fat Fries and Bone Marrow are my favorites for starters. We have been coming here for years. Please support this business during the COVID pandemic. It would be terrible to see this place not make it.

Updating this review in November 2024. The place is still amazing! But had to remove a star for the parking situation. They use a service that requires you to scan a QR code and either pay for parking or get 3 hours free. It is NOT evident that you need to do this and none of the staff mentioned it. A couple weeks later, I got a fine letter. I ended up having to pay "Parking Revenue Recovery Services" a total of a $99 fine. I wish someone at the Salty Sow informed me of this. I would have rather spent that money at the restaurant the next time I visited. Y'all should change this process with your parking vendor.“

“I was informed that it’s a must go place for burgers when in Austin, so I went and I was impressed. The burgers/sandwiches were really good. I liked the size of shareable fries bowl, they were really good. The Nutella pretzel shake is highly recommended.“

“Dined for lunch today, Labor Day 2024. Loved the elegant atmosphere and decor. Daughter and I shared orders of steak tartare and duck rueben, with seasoned fries, plus cappuccino and pots de creme. Delicious, generous, and ever so pleasing to the palate. Service was swift and very timely. We ordered a meal to go for my son-in-law. Will definitely return for a full service dinner experience. Compliments to the Chef!!

“Black Star was recommended to me by a friend who travels to Austin for work. He noted this was one of his favorite spots. We stopped in for dinner and a few beers around 8pm on a Sunday night.

I had the portabella sandwich with the garlic parmesan fries and my wife ordered the smash burger. Both were delicious! We tried several beers, all very good with my favorite being the porter.

Staff were awesome, with very helpful suggestions for beer recommendations.

Visiting from NJ, not sure when we'd be back here again but would absolutely visit her again.“
