“My family and I drove to Austin for my birthday weekend and we decided to eat here for brunch. Let’s talk ambiance. It was absolutely beautiful. If you are an herbalist or lover of nature, the aesthetic is right up your alley. I had the chicken and beignets and it was 100/1”. The portions were spot on and everything was perfect. The chicken wasn’t dry either. This was sooo good. Although my food was absolutely amazing, the hospitality shown to us was truly exceptional. Not only did I get a free drink, but I received a mini tour of the ingredients and how them are implemented in certain drinks and meals. Everyone enjoyed their food and time. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone headed to Austin.“

The food trailers on-site serve up some great eats, and you can enjoy live music that plays well into the night—a rare treat for this area. The bar itself is cozy and charming, with a cute interior and a pool table that still takes quarters.

What really sets Sonny’s apart is that it stays open past midnight, making it a go-to spot for late-night fun. Whether you’re there for the music, the food, or just to hang out, Sonny’s Backyard is a great choice for a good time.“

“Had Brunch.

Pros: Food quality is amazing. Brunch menu is FANTASTIC. Service top notch, and the place is absolutely lovely.

The Viet Carpaccio is perfect. Maybe a squeeze of lime would be a nice addition but great nonetheless.

Viet Coffee is best I have had. So strong, so sweet, so good.

Considerations (matter of preference)

Pho broth and Loco Moco gravy are very star anise forward. If you like that great. If not, warned.

Loco Moco gravy was prolly cornstarch thickened, was texturally not awesome.

Julienned veggies on banh mi and in vermicelli bowl are so lightly pickled (or not at all) there is zero acid to cut through the richness and add brightness.

Banh Mi is on a bolillo roll, albeit one of the best I have tasted in a long time, not a baguette. Was texturally great though. Zero pickle on the veg, so ends up a bit one note.

Zero mention of allergens on menu (GF, etc)

Summary: Place is great, food quality is fantastic, menu options wonderful, but holds back on acid, salt and bolder flavors. Would return but would ask for lime or rice vinegar to squeeze over basically everything.“

“Just like everyone else I was shocked! I tried the Beef Bulgogi Box with extra Banchans (sides) and it was amazing. I requested for no spicy if possible (hard to do) and they did it! The food reminds me of New York Korean food. It’s really filling and nutritional, I cannot wait to have an excuse to order again.

I will say they give a generous amount of sides so if you really like rice like me, get an extra side of rice instead.“
