“I've been coming here for months, and I am always happy with the quality of my food and the fast and friendly service. The Veggie Tikka masala is delicious, and very full of veggies every time. Highly recommend checking out this restaurant.“
“I'm always on the hunt for some good chaat especially on the days I miss Mumbai. This place definitely hit the spot and I was glad that everything I ordered turned out good. The dahi in the dahi vada was delicious, perfectly sweet and savory however I wish the vada was spongier rather than so dense. The cheese vada pav barely had any cheese and I wish the authentic pav was used, nonetheless the vada itself was perfect! Crispy and not too spicy. The bhel puri was full of flavor, crunch and different textures. It feels kind of obscene to pay these prices for street food though and wish they could offer half portions for more affordable prices maybe? Service is fast though we did go at a random time of day and there are two benches nearby to sit at.“
“AMAZING!! This is the Indian food we’ve been waiting for in South Austin ?? The service was great and the food was even better. Everything was cooked AND spiced to perfection. We got the chicken 65, goat curry, and chicken korma. The curries were PERFECT - the meat to sauce ratio was excellent and the goat was so incredibly tender. The naan was fluffy and delicious and the spices in the rice were exceptional. I wanted leftovers but we couldn’t help it, we finished it all. 12/10, will absolutely be back!!“
“We loved the food, got onion samosas, chicken 777, lamb vindaloo, a fish dish, garlic naan, mango lassi, chai, carrot halwa. Our favorites were the samosas, chicken 777 and lamb vindaloo. We loved the presentation a lot, all the plates and dishes were really nice. Nandini was our waitress and she was really nice and very attentive. The service and the food are why we already know we will be back. No photos to share, everything looked good and we devoured it and didn’t take any.“
“Very delicious food. I had the butter chicken. And j got it very spicy. It’s still a great level of spice for people that don’t have as good as a tolerance as me. Very flavorful- the naan is wonderful. Fresh and warm and buttery. I came hungry and left full! The service was SO nice and welcoming. Will come back for sure!“
“Pretty good curry! And the spice levels run higher than the typical Americanized places so beware! Portions were a good size, especially the tacos! Those were huge and even more spicy! They were able to accommodate our group of around 10 pretty immediately on a Sunday afternoon which was nice. The servers were also super friendly which was a bonus.“
“New Sitara has delicious authentic Indian dishes with reasonable prices and extremely large portion sizes!SERVICE - Every worker I interacted with was very pleasant! We got seated right away, our order was taken efficiently, and our food arrived quickly.PRICING - The total was $59.46 after tax and before tip for chicken tikka tandoori ($15.99), malbar chicken curry ($14.99), boneless chicken biryani ($13.99), two orders of garlic naan ($2.99 each), and keema naan ($3.99). This was an INSANE amount of food for the cost so I’d say the pricing is very reasonable considering the large portion size.CHICKEN TIKKA TANDOORI (8.5/10) - Fantastic! It comes out still sizzling and you get a great amount of chicken for the price. The flavor was great and the chicken was tender… there was one piece that was chewy and had a weird texture and I wish there were some more veggies served with it but I’d order this again!MALBAR CHICKEN CURRY (8.5/10) - The flavor of this got better with every bite! It wasn’t as sweet as you’d expect with a coconut sauce, but the spice level is perfect and it’s extremely flavorful. I’d order this again!BONELESS CHICKEN BIRYANI (8/10) - This wasn’t the most flavorful or life changing biryani I’ve ever had BUT it gets graded on a curve because the portion size is MASSIVE! The chicken was tender and had a great spice level. I’d order this again!GARLIC NAAN (9/10) - One bite and it’s obvious why this is one of their most popular items! The garlic flavor is DELICIOUS! It was a little thinner and more crispy than some other naan I’ve had which was the only thing keeping it from being a perfect 10/10. I’d order this again!KEEMA NAAN (7/10) - The flavor of the keema was great but it was very greasy… I’m happy I tried it but I probably wouldn’t order it again.I’d definitely come back to New Sitara and would recommend it to others… especially if you want a local, casual place for some great Indian cuisine! If you order a lot, plan to have leftovers because the portions are massive and you get your money’s worth!“
“Love the space, huge number of selections on the menu, delicious garlic naan bread, and the mango lassi can't be beat. If they improve the speed of service a little bit (they're BUSY sometimes), this will become known as one of the top Indian restaurants in town.“
“From appetizers to desserts, this restaurant exceeded all our expectations! The menu has a fantastic selection of dishes, and we loved everything we tried. The ambiance of this restaurant is simply fantastic! The cozy atmosphere, soft lighting, and elegant decor create the perfect setting for any special occasion. I’ve been to many similar restaurants, but this one truly stands out. The attention to detail and commitment to guest service set it apart from the rest. We did catered for our family events. They served the food warm, fresh and tasty. Highly recommended!“
“We love Samay Chai! Worth driving in to town just to get their Sabudana Vada and cardamom Chai. This time we tried the Bun Maska (Jalapeño Cheese Bread) and the papdi chaat, although we've tried the Vada Pav in the past (not our favorite). The service is quick and prompt. They are friendly. We like that there are a fair amount of tables in the area and there is a canopy in the back with a couple tables. We like that it's outdoors and we can bring our dogs with the dog park next door.“
“The staff was friendly and patient as we studied the menu. They had great draft beer choices that didn't break the bank. The hummus was a little bland but the naan was fluffy and garlicky. I had a vegetable jalapeño curry meal and the spice was right on the mark. I'd go back.“
“I think I’ve bothered to write maybe 3 reviews in my life. I don’t know how to check my google review stats. I had the chicken biryani tonight, along with countless other items in the past and this place doesn’t miss. Go support these guys they make great food.“
“Heaven in a cup | Hand crafted authentic Chai . You have to wait about 7 minutes for it as he makes each cup of chai fresh. Unbelievably delicious!! Brought back pleasant memories of my years in India. . Last week I had chai at a regular brick and mortar “Indian” restaurant. I couldn’t drink it. It was so bad I threw it out! In contrast, this guy crafts each cup with love. . Intersection of I-35 and 38th Street in the Shell parking lot. It’s not fancy but the food is great too. I love their samosas. I remember when G’raj Mahal was in a trailer before they became famous in downtown Austin. These guys could be the next big thing in Indian food. Lata Bhatia“
“The restaurant turned out to be a hidden gem for us. We ordered hakka noodle dosa (with no onions and no garlic), samsoa and Madurai Malai Dosa and all three items were very authentic tasting and delicious. I typically don't like dosas, but I sincerely enjoyed these. The owners and the team were very nice and willing to work with our restrictions even though they were very busy. Additionally, they are able to make most things vegan and/or Jain which is a blessing for us. Definitely a top restaurant on our list to go to and take family and friends now. A genuinely positive experience for us.Dietary restrictions: Vegan friendly, Jain friendly“
“Really delicious Indian food truck — we got the lamb rogan josh and the lamb korma, both came with basmati rice. We usually get them mild, which does still have some spice and is still flavorful and delicious. So if you’re not used to heat/don’t like spice, definitely get mild or something not spicy. Our friend got the Chana Baturi (savory chickpeas) and the fried bread they give with it is ridiculously good. They’re so nice too! Everything is cooked fresh so be patient, but it’s worth it.“
“Love the dosa here. Been in US since 2009, tried Dosa in many restaurants but never got to eat Dosa that is more Karnataka style. Taste is amazing, check it out you wouldn’t regret it!!Also, the owner is very kind and friendly. Trying to reinvent, fuse western and Indian on some of the other items on the menu…. Pretty cool !! Give this place a shot ….“
“My partner and I went here for the first time, and we were very happy with our meal. We ordered naan, samosas, chicken tikka masala, and chicken biryani. They were all very good, and most of the food came out very quick! The restaurant kept the decorations from the restaurant that used to be there, and I'm glad they did, because it's very pretty and cozy inside.“
“We heard about Desi Sandwich Foodies and their Frankies so we had to try it. They have really captured the authentic Indian taste and the food was amazing! We loved that they give "nalli" (fryums) with the order. We recommend the Panneer Achari Frankie and Chicken Tikka Frankie! Their chaat options are good too. We'll be coming back again to try more.“
“We recently ate our first time at Lazzat Asian, Indian &Pakistani Cuisine Restaurant. We ordered 6 different dishes between 2 families. We loved all of them specifically the Teriyaki Beef plate. The Owner is very nice and friendly and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant. Try it, you will like it.“
“Ya'll got to try this place! Soul was happy! Place isn't very fancy but AMAzing quantities for the price! We had veg chowmein, steamed chicken momos, chai, lamb gosht curry with garlic naans and chilli momos. Everything was just soo yummy! The lamb curry tasted like my mom makes it, not the typical heavy oily preparation. The chilli momos were a bit too flavored for my preference. I prefer the steamed momos. Chowmein was huge quantity and delicious. For a change, Austin has something good we'd def come bk for!“
“Had briyani and chat, fried rice was ok. Quick service. Suggested for To-go only as theres no seating area. Limited parking space available for quick pickup. They also offer delivery pickup through Grub Hub.One of recommended option for Indian restaurant in South “
“Love this dosa food truck. The dosas are crisp and tasty. The combinations are unique and flavourful. The Jackfruit dosa was a tasty surprise. Also tried the paneer, SPC2 and devil veggie - and each one of them was good!!Will definitely visit again.“
“Some of the best food you will find in this part of Austin and a top notch Nepalese/Indian restaurant for pretty much anyplace in this country. The food is perfect every time. Bring back the lunch buffet and I'll eat there three times per week. Service was excellent and everyone is super nice. Prices are great for what you get as well. Flavors just explode.Vegetarian options: Amazing across the board. The okra will blow your mind.“
“fantastic place to eat! The authenticity of the Indian food here is high. The balance between spices & vegetables is well done. The lamb & goat are very well seasoned here. I invite you to try this place! Prices are reasonable. More pics later. Pradeep is a good manager, & he takes care of the customers in my experience.“
“Foods is great. I got one spicy(hot) and one medium chicken tikka masala and the flavor on the spicy(mine, my brother had the other) was really good I just wish there was more chicken but honestly every place I've been to pretty much does the same that is better tasting or more authentic. Still a good amount of chicken though actually. I saw too late about their tacos being really good or the biryani supposedly is a best seller I guess atleast that's what one of the apps suggested. I'll definitely be back but I wonder if there is a way to get more chicken for an upcharge without having to get a whole nother order. I would get a third order and split it will my brother but he holds out on the spice which is how I like my food. I guess the guy that took my order said it's hot cause there is another option to get really spicy but the hot was pretty perfect though now I am curious haha. I plan on having a couple beers and super spicy and beer can make one heck of a combo in the morning if you catch my drift. Late at night its hard to find good food or more diverse food like this place at least that i know of and they arent terribly far away from me. They definitely get bonus points for staying open real late. I edited my original response and am changing it from a 4 to a 5 star. Well done I'll definitely be back“
“I've ordered here to-go a couple of times and both have been great! On first impression, I wouldn't think a indian restaurant/bar/pizza combination would provide solid food (usually you gotta focus on one thing you're good at), but I was totally wrong with this one. I didn't get any pictures, but I've ordered the salmon tikka, palak paneer, vegetable biryani, and even tried their saag paneer pizza. No complaints, everything was delicious. I especially liked their salmon tikka masala. Oftentimes salmon in this format ends up dry and overcooked, but I found the salmon to be still very juicy, but cooked all the way through. This might just be my new favorite Indian spot (at least for takeout)!“
“Super delicious loved the food can’t wait to come back me shashi my waitress was super helpful and very patient for a new comer who didn’t understand the menu entirely definitely come stop in great place for familyVegetarian options: A bunch of non meat options as well very tasteful and full of protein !Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly don’t hesitate to bring children“
“First time here and it was excellent, as I was hoping when I saw their menu. The masala dosa was perfect, crispy and w/ nice sides/sauces. It's also the best mango lassi I have had in Austin. Prices are very fair, the lady in the store told me they have gone down as the menu has expanded. Also ordered the gobi manchurian (most authentic one I have tried so far) and the malai kofta was just like the one I had in Delhi. It's a good deal for great, authentic Indian food. Thanks!!“
“Liked the veggie fried momos even though the filling lacked salt and the sauce was okayish. I liked it because the filling was fresh. The taste wasnt bad,ill be sure to go again. The chow mein was good too, I liked that it wasn't too spicy and pretty homely. The rice kheer was homely as well.“
“The pav bhaji at Chatpati Chat was an absolute delight! The fragrant blend of spices in the bhaji was perfectly balanced, creating a rich and flavorful base. The pav was soft and buttery, complementing the robust vegetable curry. Each bite was a burst of authentic Indian flavors that transported me to the streets of Mumbai. The dish was generously garnished with fresh coriander and diced onions, adding a refreshing touch. The friendly service and vibrant atmosphere at the food truck enhanced the overall experience. A must-try for any food enthusiast!Vegetarian options: Menu is all Vegetarian“
“I'm a regular at Madrasdhaba, the Indian food truck downtown, visiting around twice a week. The owner (still don't know his name!) is always super friendly, and we have some cool chats when I bike over. Now, let's get to the food – it's a flavor explosion every single time. Seriously, it feels like a fresh adventure in my mouth on each visit. Whether it's their biryanis, creamy curries, or my absolute favorite, the Chicken Tikka tacos, it's always a taste bud celebration. But wait, there's more - recently, I discovered their Nana Bread Tacos, and they're a game changer!Speaking of favorites, the Chicken Tikka tacos are where it's at for me. Juicy chicken, the perfect spice kick, all wrapped up in a tasty taco. And those Nana Bread Tacos? They're like a delicious twist that keeps me coming back for more.Their menu is diverse, so whether you're into meat or veggies, there's something to make you smile. And the portions won't leave you hungry, plus the prices are wallet-friendly.So, if you're in the mood for some top-notch Indian eats, those incredible Chicken Tikka tacos, or the mouthwatering Nana Bread Tacos, you gotta hit up Madrasdhaba. It's not just about the food; it's the laid-back vibes and the delicious bites that keep me hooked.“
“Wonderful staff, very accommodating and kind! They really strive to make your dining experience just right. Thank you guys so very much everything was so delicious!Kid-friendliness: It’s a family dining restaurant, kids are very much welcomed.“
“I Always go for lunch and try different dishes and always its like wow, Excellent Indo Chinese food. Gobi Manchurian, Veg Hakka noodles has always been a favorite of mine.Malai Kofta was great, first time trying Khaman Dhokla which was excellent,Latest i was try churma ladoo and its like real taste of Rajasthan.“
“Good concept and the food is very yummy. I loved the masala chai here ❤️. Good service and they serve food with a big smile. There's plenty of seating, clean space with a trash can and the atmosphere looks great on even busy nights. My biggest gripe is the lack of parking spaces nearby as a lot of the spots are reserved for hotel customers.“
“Great food and customer service, the weekend deals in addition to the usual menu are a great addition. I’ve tried the dosas and recently the vegetarian khushka and salt&pepper mushroom fry which is very flavorful. Kudos to the chef and his crew! Will visit again.“
“Bought Chicken Biriyani and it tastes good. The spice (salt and chili powder) is just perfect. I like it better than NYC chili biriyani. It’s the only Bengali restaurant and grocery in Austin as I was told. They had ample amount of rice and chicken pieces and the price $12 was just right for the size.“
“Had amazing time with my friend tonight. Shetty was able to recommend some of their special which we really enjoyed. Food was amazing and really hit the spot. It was flavorful and pack just enough heat. Service was great. They consistently checked on us.“
