I would like to respectfully start with; I’ve been to Uchi multiple times over the years and will never forget my first experience (which will always be the best in my mind.) That being said — tonight might have been the closest to first I’ve ever had. We had an absolutely amazing evening at Uchi. The quality of the food was outstanding, and we genuinely had so much fun experiencing the different dishes. A particular highlight for my husband was the Toyosu Market selection — being able to try such exceptional fish sourced from Tokyo made the evening even more special for him. A vegetarian paradise. Numerous exquisite vegetarian dishes available, and I believe our table of three tried them all. Or at least we attempted to. The food is breathtakingly creative, beautifully presented, and every single dish delivers an explosion of flavor. The quality of the ingredients is exceptional. The service is impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere is sophisticated yet relaxed. Specific popular dishes include the gyutoro nigiri (short rib), hot rock, buta maki, and edamame, described as some of the best. The sushi and sashimi are very fresh. For celebrations, the restaurant provides a signed birthday card, which is very lovely. Whether celebrating a special occasion or simply treating yourself, Uchi Austin is an absolute must visit.
