The Alamo Drafthouse is the greatest theater chain in the country with lovingly crafted pre-shows designed for whatever experience you're about to see. Look for their special nights showing old movies. For example, seeing "Pieces" (1982) at this theater included a special introduction from theater staff, a passionate speech for an obscure film, really, and the packed theater made this the best theatrical experience you could imagine.

Love this place, great movie's, atmosphere, and service. You can have dinner and drinks while you check out a flick. Sometimes they show cult classics and obscure movie's which is hard to find. I always go there every chance I get.

This location used to be a dance club called The Ritz and I used to come here and marvel at how large the venue even back then. Now that Alamo has taken over this spot for I can see why they took it over as this place is spacious and the PERFECT spot to have a movie theater downtown. Ritz is my favorite location because of several reasons - 1) they host unique and special screenings weekly, 2) even when hosting special screenings they have new movie showings as well, 3) best spot to get the weird & whacky Alamo merchandise, and 4) never disappoints with service on food, drinks, and the like. One thing to note - this is kind of the original OG Alamo Drafthouse locations (after their move from Colorado Street) so the tables / seating are long rows and not broken up for you to scoot in. You will have to most likely start at one of the row and make your way to your seat especially if you are sitting in the middle or close to it. You may want to consider getting here super early to your movie too to avoid any awkwardness of having to ask patrons in your row to stand up. You will be entertained regardless if you come in early as Alamo makes special trailers and spots before your movie that is related to your movie! Be ready for some stair climbing especially if you are grabbing a beer in the lobby and heading up to your seat. They do have an elevator on site for mobile challenged or wheelchair bound folks so don't be afraid to ask where that is and how to use it.

I was thoroughly impressed with this movie theater! The attention to delivering an outstanding movie experience was second to none! The service was great and the food and drinks were outstanding. I wish Portland Oregon had a theater like this! I showed up about 30 minutes before the movie and the reel leading up to the movie (The Invisible Man) was all of the historical movies related to it. Clearly someone at this theater cares about cinema! Cheers!

Love this theater! They always have great shows and I especially love their movie parties.

Ok, the theater itself is a little wonky, but it's kept that classic feel. But the reason to go is the lineup of cinema entertainment that they provide. Parking isn't easy and weekend nights will test you, but it's still worth doing.

Attended a conference that took place during the day in the Alamo. Such a great facility and their food options were great as well. Really appreciated their vegetarian-friendly foods and favorites from us were their fried cauliflower and their French 75 cocktail was too delicious not to mention. Will have to return to visit for a movie next time we're in town.

This is the worst movie experience I have ever had. I spent 30 minutes fighting downtown traffic, finding parking that cost a fortune, and avoiding vagrants on the street just to get to the theater and be denied entry. I could have just walked up the steps and into the theater but I was honest and went to check in the counter before seeing my movie. My friend was waiting inside and ended up seeing the movie by himself and my trek into downtown Austin was worth nothing. There goes $30 and a few hours on a Saturday. Never again.

Good food. Excellent service. Master Pancake is a must see no matter what movie they are mocking

Great movie, pizza was good, but the smell in the place reeked of 6th street. Plus they had couple people sneaking in as ticket control was lax. Don't know if braving dirty 6 was worth it..

Whatching Elf on Xmas day was the perfect thing to do! Highly recommend!

My wife and I are fans of The Alamo Drafthouse, but we'd never been to Alamo Ritz. We'll probably never go back for several reasons, but first and foremost, in order to get to our seats we had to climb UNDER the serving table. According to others who were there, that's part of the charm. "Welcome to the Ritz" was what we were told by one of the patrons in our row who I saw doing the same thing to get to his seat. So no, not impressed at all. And our pizza crust was soggy. Not what we've come to expect from The Alamo Drafthouse.

We go here for movie parties and master pancake theater. Love the beer and cocktails. Oh and the best buffalo cauliflower ive ever had. Dont forget to look for special food based on the movies.

We sat in the balcony seats. Worth every penny. Food was good. Our server was attentive. When we arrived there was no staff to direct us where to go. We had a hard time finding the balcony. It would have helped if they told us that we had to walk through the projection room. When we left, again, no staff around to help us with our bill.
