Dry cauliflower was the best
Twice cooked pork was a bit oily, didn't like the salty egg tofu too much
Well, I am conflicted about this place. This is one of my more frequently visited places whenever I am craving Sichuan dishes. As one of the customers who remember fondly when it was inside the now defunct Asia Market, I lament the negative changes. There are more varieties, the taste is still quite good. However, the portions have shrunk significantly. Take for example, the spicy boiled beef. I think at this point, it is more appropriate to call it spicy boiled bean sprouts. The whole dish is basically bean sprouts, a few strands of baby bok choy, and a few tiny slices of beef. The taste is still there, but is it still spicy boiled beef? One can observe similar trends on virtually all the dishes. I am not sure if the significantly reduced customers caused this or this caused by current conditions. Surely, there are also more Sichuan restaurants in Austin compared to years ago, in my mind this place is one of the few original Sichuan places in Austin.
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Austin. Their spicy fish is my personal favorite
Some of the best food in the Austin area! My favorite Mopo tofu in the region! Staff is always nice.
Having eaten here a lot and tried a lot of the menu, I feel compelled to leave a review.
A lot of good dishes on the menu, I can only recall going wrong once with three cup chicken. Most recently I had Mongolian style Lamb, Spicy Pork Intestines stir fried with veggies, and Dry Bean Curd with Mustard Greens. It was a nice balanced meal with a lot of good dishes and variety of flavors.
The service and atmosphere is whatever but that’s not what you come here for anyways. Sometimes there’s communication problems if you don’t have a Mandarin speaker in your group as not everyone in the restaurant speaks English.
The food is very very good here!
We ordered beans, pork and fried rice, all are the best Chinese food we’ve tried in Austin.
We would like to go back very soon!
However, the servers can have better attitude toward customers.
The light is a bit too dark, and the background music is also not match the other decorations.
great for big groups! free tea refill for a dollar what a steal for hot tea. Aunties and uncles are direct but super nice
Yummy foods, nice customer service!
We had shrimp fried rice, popcorn chicken and stir fried snap peas. And the food was good. It's kind of a self service place and you don't have to wait long for your food. Highly recommended for a fast, satisfying bite.
China Cafe offers traditional Chinese cuisine “family style”. Any meal you order will be enough to share with someone else. It’s a great place to go if you are wanting to try new dishes. They used to offer table service, but switched to ordering at the counter after COVID-19. However, you can still eat inside. The tables are kept clean promptly after people finish eating. I highly recommend Asia Cafe for its value and service.

Excellent food, a favorite place for a family style sharing of dishes for Friday lunches at work.
Such a hidden gem, this place always makes me feel like I’m having lunch at my grandmothers house. I love the spicy fish fillet!
Consistently good food and service. Friendly staff, great rewards program, and reasonable cook times. Take out orders are easy to place but keep in mind there are usually more menu options written on the white boards at the counter than what you see online. Most menu items are family style so it's great to take a large group to dine in. The prices for the quantity and quality of the food is fair. One of my favorites in the neighborhood.
Great food and serve quick. Authentic Chinese cuisine options are available if that's what you are looking for. Big portion in each dish ordered, plenty of food.
It’s 8pm, the tables are already closing, and the restaurant looks mess. The food looks authentic but not good quality.
The tofu doesn’t have much taste, the specify wonton is too sweet.
A bit disappointed.
