Had the vegetarian sampler and it was delicious 😋 Big fan of the Atakelt Wott, Gomen, Bedergan, and Fosolia Wott 💗 Wonderful Job at making these dishes!
I have traveled across this country far and wide. I have seen the beauty of America that never makes it to the TV. The wild, painted horses of Arizona. The 7 levels of waterfalls at Glen Onoko. Albuquerque in the night from a distance where one can begin to see that truly there is a Higher Power.
I cook. I respect cuisine.
Unfortunately, this was the worst Ethiopian food I have encountered. Made with no love. No nuance. Only three flavor profiles: sour, salt, and nutmeg.
A terrible representation. No guava juice. No lemons. The server, a young woman, could not care less.
Do not go here if you seek flavor, care, and thoughtfulness in food.
Food was amazing! I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves Ethiopian food.
Injera tasted like vinegar. Feels like leftovers. Stael food.
Great food! Favorite Ethiopian restaurant in Texas.
Best restaurant in Austin
Very nice staff. Friendly atmosphere. Wonderful food. And awesome prices. Favorite Ethiopian food of all time.
I arrived for a dinner party at 7pm and left at 9:30. During the time we were there, no one had received any food and only a few of us drinks. The food was served just after 10:30pm according to another guest.
Been coming here for a few years. Now our family that we visit here live in Kyle. We drove 40 mins to enjoy this food. Owner was always friendly and served a great meal. The food tonight was still flavorful but there was so little of it. Much less than ever before. The service was horrible, no one checked on us or brought a bill. They didn’t come back to even turn a light on. The bathroom was dirty and had no soap. Whoever was working tonight did this restaurant dirty for sure! Even after we paid, it was obvious that they thought we should leave a bigger tip, nothing but attitude. The person we paid was rude and the entire experience was disappointing. If this had been our first visit, we would never return. It hurts to write this sad review.
Sure! Here’s a shorter but still great review:
Amazing food and warm hospitality! The injera was perfectly soft and paired beautifully with the rich, flavorful stews. I especially loved the keyi beg wott, which was perfectly spiced. The staff was friendly and happy to explain the dishes, making the experience even better. If you’re looking for authentic Ethiopian cuisine, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back!
Let me know if you want any tweaks!

Aster’s Ethiopian Restaurant was a fantastic experience! The warm atmosphere and friendly service made me feel at home. The food was rich in flavor, with perfectly soft injera and well-seasoned stews. The doro wat was especially delicious, and the vegetarian dishes were just as satisfying. Authentic, welcoming, and absolutely worth a visit—I’ll definitely be back!
The food is not for Ethopian. It is not authentic or even tasty. It looks bad and it tastes terrible. I had terrible experience
Love this place!! Super cool staff, crazy good food. Would recommend the lunch buffet. Went here three days in a row in my trip to Austin
I ordered several things on the menu, including the two meat dishes: Tibbs and Alicha siga, both of which were so flavorful and tender! The gluten-free injera was delicious, and all the veggie sides were amazing—my favorite being the cabbage dish. SO many gluten free options on the menu, and they did not skimp on portion sizes. Great service as well!! 🙌🏽
I love this place. Hidden gem in Austin. My grandma showed it to me a long time ago. Happy it’s still crunkin.
