I usually get the brown sugar iced latte and it's one of my favorites on their menu! The atmosphere almost always feels welcoming. Bella took my order a couple of times, and she was so kind. Will definitely be making Barley Bean a regular rotation when working from home :)

The matcha was really disappointing, just tasted like oat milk with a green tint. No matcha flavor at all.

Matcha was not good and sooooooo overpriced. It was made it maybeeee 2 minutes and only had a hint of green. I thought the whole building was plant based and i know there is a vegan restaurant also in the building yet milk alternatives are $1.25. So i paid $8.39 for an unflavored cup of oatmilk.
As a reply to the response: per the picture i included originally you can see it looks like there is hardly any matcha powder at all. It is a veryyyy light green. You say you have competitive prices but you do NOT have competitive matcha. Also you have the most expensive alternative milk pricing. A lot of places are no charge or $1 most. Take a look at stargazer matcha. I paid the same price for theirs and that was with oatmilk AND a flavor. And you can actually see the matcha because it was dark green! No i wouldn’t want a sweetened cup of oatmilk that’s the whole point. What i got tasted like oatmilk and NOT matcha. Therefore my issue is with the taste, color, the price and the time it took to “prepare” it.

If you decide to eat at Mission Burger, BarleyBean handles all the drinks. Unfortunately that means if you want water you have to pay for a bottled water, no free water cups here. I was happy to see that staff brought a doggy bowl with water for a customer who brought their pet along. Really disappointing and detracts from the experience. In addition there is 0 bike parking on site !

1 star for worst customer service. Refused to fill up my reusable water bottle for me and my toddler on Fathers Day and told to buy one of their massively overpriced waters.
I have to say, I’m genuinely confused. Austin is known for being eclectic and “weird”—but never rude. We came to town for the weekend and were excited to visit Mission Burger 🍔, which we love. However, if you want a beverage with your meal, your only option is Barley Bean.
Unfortunately, both times we’ve eaten here this weekend, the staff at Barley Bean have treated us with visible irritation, like our presence was an inconvenience. The looks we received said, “I hate everything,” and the energy matched.
It’s really disappointing to feel so unwelcome, especially while trying to support a local favorite. Honestly, it feels like a mismatch in values—Mission Burger offers great food and good vibes, while Barley Bean doesn’t seem to align with that spirit at all. To be clear the chick with the dark hair and septum piercing was awesome.
