Bat City Pies is a food truck located inside buzz mill, and is absolutely delicious. It's a detroit style pizza in a town that already has amazing Detroit style pizza and it knocks it out of the park. It's a hidden gem in Austin and worth a visit to both the bar and the food truck

Came here because the pizza looked so good. But I have to say it’s way better Detroit style pizza here in Austin. Pizza crust had no crunch to it and was hella soggy. I’m from Michigan I’m giving 3 stars on service because you seemed like a cool dude. But Detroit style pizza you have to get right!

The pennybacker is my favorite, thicc and delicious. Don't sleep on the cheese bread, and the marinara is the best. Everything is made in house, they don't even have a freezer on the truck! He makes the marinara from scratch and cooks it for FOUR HOURS! That's probably why it is so good. The meatballs are great too, yes those are made by hand in house as well. Y'all can fight about whether or not pineapple goes on pizza, but the KB special is great, named after the owner "chef King Bain" it will not disappoint, it might even change your stand on whether or not pineapple belongs on Pizza, try it and be swayed. *disclaimer: my husband still says pineapple doesn't belong on Pizza, he's a pennybacker kinda guy Slide into Bat City Pies and get your pizza fix, you'll be back for more.

Bat City serves some of the best pizza I've ever had. The sauce is made from scratch. It's hearty and always tastes fresh. I love the crispy cheese on the edges.
The McConaughey, Lil Mama, and Don't Call Me Darlin are my go to pies. I also like to get an order of their meatballs (also made from scratch) and slice em up myself on a cheese pizza for a little off menu action. If that's too much work for you, the meatball sub is amazing. Lately I've been addicted to their new eggplant parmesan sub and eggplant chips. The cheese sticks are buttery and delectable.
All that being said, you absolutely have to try the Bat Bites. They are light and fresh. I love the arugula and balsamic glaze they come with. The only bad thing about the Bat Bites is sharing them.
A pizza and an order of Bat Bites is perfect for two people, or one very hungry person.
Protip: ask them to double cut your pizza so it's like cheese sticks.

We thought this place was a unique find. This dog-friendly coffee shop, bar, and food truck were a perfect spot for everyone. We ordered pizza, and the service was exceptional; he explained he uses all fresh ingredients. We grabbed a drink and waited. We noticed a BBQ truck that smelled amazing, we plan on trying that soon. Our pizza arrived, and it was phenomenal!! It's worth paying for the Uber to get there. The KB special was terrific! I have a new desire for Detroit-style pizza. Its not all the same. We ordered pizza a block off 6th Street next to our condo and it was so disappointing. After Bat city pies it will be hard to compare.
