We were deciding for brunch as a group and we browsed the menu before picking this place. The reviews on yelp were all really good too. You order first and then sit wherever and they bring the food to you so make sure you know what you want when you walk in. I had the chicken and waffles and the chicken was crispy and seasoned perfectly to go with the sweetness of the waffle. My boyfriend got the Frenchie with potatoes and scrambled eggs. If you have the option, get the potatoes!! They are amazing, everyone at our table loved them. If you need a spot that everyone will enjoy, come here! Plus they have gelato that they make in house and the flavors are nice and strong

I went into Black Walnut Cafe for breakfast. What a wonderful place. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Cheesy Grits, a Bacon and Cheddar Kolache and a Caramel Macchiato. My daughter had the Chicken and Waffles, Ham and Mozzarella Kolache and White Chocolate Mocha. The food was delicious!

I love Black Walnut but it feels like they are doing everything that they can to stop me from coming to eat there. I went to the one at River Place at least once a week. Great Food etc. But the one on Burnet is a mess. Great locations, booths are private, love the chair seating but their food execution is awful. Cold coffee last night, bar drinks that were just unrecognizable when served Friday night, they forgot one meal and ran out of one dessert after we ordered it...the chicken sandwiches, burgers and salmon were all tasty...the potato salad needed salt, and the sweet potato fries were yummy. I am afraid that I am going to lose one of my go to meeting spots if they dont get in gear soon.

Loved the atmosphere and the service was phenomenal! I had the eggs Benedict and it was very good! My daughter had coffee cake pancakes and they were also really good. I would recommend it. Good for adults and older kids, not great for toddlers, but they would find something to eat for sure.

Healthy omelets , also a variety of food to choose from . I ate here for breakfast . Closes early so that was a bit inconvenient. Easy location near my hotel

A group of 5 girls and I visited for our weekly weekend brunch. Boy, that was a mistake! This was everyone's first time visiting this particular spot and I'm sure it will be everyone's last. When you enter during weekend brunch hours, this place is pure chaos. The way that the ordering takes place is confusing and just not very well thought out. We would've loved to sit down and look over the menu, but you're unable to since you have to order at the counter. We ordered 2 carafes of mimosas for the group. These babies are not cheap by any means so when the bar accidentally gave our mimosas to another table, we had to go hunt someone down to help us re-order our carafes. When we finally received them, they tasted like tang with a splash of champagne, 100% not worth the hectic-ness or the inflated price. As for the meal, it was a very unorganized and I got my food way before anyone else, so I had to wait a good while to eat. The servers would come to deliver the food, but they would ask every table in the area if that is what they ordered until they found the correct person. It just added to the chaos. The food was subpar and honestly, Denny's breakfast has more flavor than a lot of the options here. Overall, if you want a nice relaxing and fun brunch spot, this is NOT it!

I am looking forward to returning to Black Walnut Cafe. Joined a friend here for brunch and had the grits. Holy cow they were delicious! I wanted to try their pancakes too but went with the grits and glad I did! Will definitely come back. Everything on the menu sounds delicious.

Hey there!! Yup, it's Mr. Smidgens. I usually don't do the first time trying a place bad review, but this one really deserves a good rodgering!! Now, you're probably wondering how I got here. Meh, maybe you're not and you just happened upon this review at 2am lying in your bed trying to get to sleep. Well, while I was at the gym in the middle of a training session, our friend who is staying with us shot me a text asking if I wanted anything from Black Walnut. Hmmmm....I knew I would be hungry after my gym session so, I quickly looked at their menu and landed on the Guinness Steak Pot Pie!! Oh, it sounded delicious!! From their menu: Demi-glace braised beef, red potatoes, baby carrots, green peas, pastry crust. All for only $12.59!!! Sounds like a deal right??? I thought so too, but we are both as wrong as thinking that the Kansas City Chiefs are from Kansas!! Wroooong!! Our friend's boyfriend who I have only met less than a handful of times picked up the order. Two Guinness Steak Pot Pies, chicken fried steak, tomato basil soup , chips and queso, and some desserts. Listen, I feel really bad that our friend's boyfriend spent his hard earned money on this food. The tomato basil soup was decent and that's the only reason I gave them 2 stars. Let's break down this delicious sounding pot pie! The steak was actually tender, but not very flavorful, the carrots and potatoes were under cooked and crunchy, the green peas tasted like well...green peas (High Five)!! Now, for the coup de grâce!!! THE PASTRY CRUST!! It was a perfectly symmetrical bread disc!! (See my pictures) This "bread disc" sat on top of the gravyless contents in the to go bowl. Yup, a scoop of dry meat and veggies covered with a pastry disc as if it was the top of the to go container. WOW!! There ya go!! We had a good laugh and I ended up heating up some Kettle and Fire butternut squash bone broth soup to add to the sad pot pie. It made it edible. I might be on to something!! You're welcome, Black Walnut!!

This is one of my favorite brunch places. The fresh orange juice makes up for the wait time but that is the only reason I am taking away that one star. Otherwise I will recommend the chicken and waffles and the eggs benedict too. Good food and decent service. You have to seat yourself and don't forget to grab napkins and cutlery.

Nice restaurant, just that when we went on a Sunday morning, the line to order was too long. Line stretched outside the entrance door. We were in a group of 4, and one of us noticed that people going to bar can order at bar and can ignore the line. We were lucky and got 4 empty bar stools together. Got served in decent time, our bar tender was very nice lady. Loved eating Shakshouka, it was in my to-try list for a long time.

Good food reasonable pricing. Order from the counter, self serve coffee and tea with table side delivery works well and efficiently. Eat at the bar for full service not as smooth. Recommend

Updated review: I was contacted by management and the situation was understood from both sides and resolved. I appreciate the great service and delicious food. I now know that if I want a regular grilled cheese without paying for the pork roast since I'm not a kid) I need to come in earlier, which is still kinda sad to me but it is policy. This is a delicious restaurant and I do love coming here!

I wasn't a huge fan of having to order at the counter but the food is so good I was willing to overlook it. Breakfast here is truly delicious and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I just wish they had more creamer options for my coffee!
