I love a good diner. Being from the Midwest, I yearned a cozy cafe that had good coffee and a breakfast that would fill me for a good part of the day. I used to be a “pancake of the day” girl, even better if I could get it in as a silver dollar. I like more of salty than sweet breakfast. Eggs usually, and then maybe something sweet on the side, hence the silver dollar. But I came to Cafe Java, with no premonition of what I truly wanted. Our waitress Chloe, helped me choose between the difficult decision of salty and sweet by offering the Mascarpone Pancake special that came with eggs and sausage, I opted for an additional of hash browns, because why not?Chloe steered me right. I loved the flavors of the pancake, a once sweet breakfast addition was now toned down with the taste of their mascarpone, with a hint of sweet from strawberries mixed throughout the cream cheese.I’ll be going back with a doubt! A classic diner and amazing recommendations? Sold.

We had a lovely time here! It was definitely pricier than we were expecting, but the portion sizes were satisfying, and the meal itself was great. I loved the variety of coffee options. However, I'd love an accurate report of the sugar content as someone who's trying to limit sugar intake and adhere to a diet, because some drinks and meals are very deceptively high in their sugar content, and it would be good to know. I appreciate the vegetarian options as well. I really enjoyed this place. My iced mocha was delicious & not too sweet. I also had 2 breakfast tacos & their homemade salsa. Both taste great & the salsa was medium spice level. I noticed they also sell their own coffee beans which I may try on my next visit.

Highly recommend! Delicious coffee and food! Chloe was so helpful and friendly. The ultimate migas were amazing, and the chocolate pancake special was a hit. Variety of coffee beans for sale too.

We have been down to Austin four times since our daughter has moved here and have eaten at Cafe Java every time. The service, atmosphere, and food have never disappointed us. They always make us feel welcome, and we'll be back in November and will eat here again.
