Went to Hopdoddy Burger Bar and it’s a great pick when you want a “real” burger and a fun atmosphere without getting too fancy. The place stays busy, but the line moves and the staff keep things organized. The burger had a good char, juicy middle, and the bun actually held up (no falling apart halfway through). We haven't been to Hopdoddy's in a long time. The original one on South Congress used to have the best burgers ever. The burgers at the Hopdoddy on E. 5th St. are smaller than before and the bottom bun was soggy on every burger our group ordered. Plus, I asked if the Llano Poblano burger was still available since it's not on the menu now and I was told that yes they still make them. So I ordered it and I don't think it even had poblano pepper in it at all....
Last minute Christmas shoppers: Santa Hot Buns are a great present- if you ask me. You get $10 for every $40 gift card! Great 78702 neighbors with a fantastic crew. I got the seasonal The Duke burger, a beautiful beef Wellington-type delicatessen! Yes, it had the classic duxelle, the puff pastry, medium-rare Wagyu beef, and a wine demi-glace coating. I hope it stays for a while on the menu. It goes perfect with the cocktails, and friendly staff in all positions.
