Parking can be hit or miss. Today, it was a miss again. We had reservations got there early but they closed the parking lot and garage to restaurant visitors. There were about 10 empty parking spots easily but not available to patrons. After looking for street parking for about 30 min we gave up. Super frustrating. We were loyal and come here often and have recommended it to others. But after two times like this we’re taking this place off our list. Brunch here is good but not worth the hassle of parking really. And it’s become more expensive too.

Joined my friends for dinner, they'd had drink orders already. I ask the waitress to open up my own tab.I order a Mocha and ask what she recommends for an entree. She says the rabbit pasta and I say I'll have that. Didn't look at a menu, didn't make any special requests. Coffee comes back as expected. Friends put in their food orders. Every other order is on the table, except my friend's mocktail that she's asked for twice after all the alcoholic cocktails came out and it didn't. My friend gets the waitress' attention and then she looks me in the face and says "let me check with the kitchen". She comes back and says "there are a bunch of orders ahead but they should start making it soon".The mocktail comes out.I tell her "cancel the rabbbit, do you have dessert? Whatever you recommend." Carrot cake. It's 12 dollars and it's... pretty similar to what I'd expect from a grocery store bakery. No special presentation or plating, disappointing compared to the plating of every entree I saw on the table. My friends' bill arrives. No bill for me? No, she didn't make a tab for me. Not only that, they won't split a check more than three ways, and they slapped on a minimum gratiuity- that's fine, I never tip below 20% anyway, and a $20 bill more than covers both my items and tip.I don't want to split anything- just pay for one coffee and one cake. They won't let me do that.$450 bill, split three ways, for ten people.Or it would have been a $430 bill, split nine ways, if I could have just paid for my own coffee and slice of cake. The two items that defined the two hours of my dining experience. We eventually got it figured out but I wouldn't come back to this restaurant ever again.

Don't try to plan a mid sized event here unless you want an event prohibitive cost.

We were blown away by this place! Service was outstanding, but the food was next level. We ordered the salad, shishito peppers and nuts for an appetizer and then came the smash burgers. Everything was so good! We finished our meal with the best carrot cake any of us have ever had. We’re already planning our next visit. Highly recommended!

Brisket hash was greasy. I also wouldn’t associate it with brisket, but rather tougher pastrami cut in cubes: no brisket texture similarityPotato hash is not crispy and is cooked till bitter darknessCompared to other Austin diners: small portion and lazy execution (for $26)

The drinks were just ok. The food was average, but the cucumbers were amazing! Overall, not worth the price pointThe dirty carpenter: it was okAnother one: just okBeso Verde: goodSlow burn: goodWaco red wheat potato rolls: very freshand the butter is goodChowder: just ok, nothing specialTexas Wagyu Tartare: the tartare and the fries were excellent. However, there was very little tartare specially for the price and there was nothing to dip withHudson valley foie gras: it was a pate, I guess I missed that part, so that was a surprise. It was very good but I just feel bad for doing this to the most delicate protein!Dilled cucumbers: it was AMAZING! It had some much flavor. I will come back for that specifically! Though, $15 for cucumbers?!Chocolate Tart: very rich, though, we didn’t care for the coconut whip cream, it tasted watered down

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️all the way. Rooms were very comfortable and clean!! The front staff was helpful and very kind. Each of the eateries onsite had great food and beverage choices and of course the staff was very friendly. A quick family getaway and great choice to stay at Carpenter Hotel. We plan on coming back!!

I love this place. I moved from Austin a couple years ago, but come back regularly for work. If I can’t get a room here, I just stay with friends instead because nothing is as cost conscious, easy, or fun. LOVE the pool, LOVE the restaurant. But honestly, it’s the staff that makes me keep coming to this place. I would prefer calling and talking to their front desk any day, rather than booking online. If I walk in and see Andy, I instantly start smiling knowing that all is well.

Our stay at the Carpenter hotel was by far the best I’ve been to. Manuel was such a good help with answering any questions and concerns we had and made us feel right at home. The rooms itself were so clean and amazing. Not to forget as well the location of the hotel is near everything we needed to travel to. Would definitely stay here again and big shoutout to Manuel again for making our stay great!
