Was checking out the Commons Conference Center in advance of a workshop and Casa Chapala caught the eye of my colleague and I. On a lark, we stopped in. Wow. Great portions and excellent quality for the money. Plan to spend time to enjoy the meal and the mariachi band that we caught. Truly recommend

I am very picky about Mexican restaurants (I grew up in Mexico)… that said Casa Chapala is in my top 3 best Mexican restaurants in Austin. Their guacamole is always fresh, the chips and salsas are great (salsa is made in front of you with your preferred level of spice), their queso flameado is so good!Their service is always great. I always recommend.

Food tasted blah, except the salsa. The service was underwhelming. My carne asada was tough, and the flavor was off. I could have eaten better food had I just stayed home and cooked it myself. We dined in and ordered a la carte, and the food was still eeewww; imagine how much worse the buffet food would have been like?

Dishonest and deceitful business practices. I joined a meetup event, the billed price didn't match the menu price. When I asked the waitress she wanted to argue with me. Then she brought someone else to argue about it. All this over a small discrepancy, wasted ten minutes trying to get them to correct it. The food is not good, atmosphere is mediocre, take your business elsewhere.
