These reviews have to be fake bc I’ve honestly never been ignored like this in my life. We were seated and just completely forgotten, our server never even acknowledged us. Meanwhile, people who were seated after us at the table right next to us were already getting their food. It wasn’t even busy, there were only a few people there, and we were sitting right in the middle of the place, definitely not easy to miss so we walked out. Just really disappointing and frustrating overall. I’ll make sure nobody I know steps foot near this place.

Visited for the first time due to the amazing reviews, initial impression was cozy, waitress wasn’t the best. We asked about the daily special bc it wasn’t listed on the menu, she could only tell me fish or shrimp and a guess on the price, didn’t offer to find out or anything so once she left I had to go back to the front and hunt down the chalk board my husband had seen just to find out on my own. We each ordered a special basket, I got the shrimp and he got the cat fish. Pod arrived quickly, looked and smelled amazing, we tried the cat fish first, it was absolutely amazing, great texture, light fluffy and moist inside, nice light crispy crust, fillets were the perfect size. The shrimp was also delicious, however in the second shrimp I noticed it had not been deveined or whatever it’s called when they leave the disgusting poop sack in tact and inside the shrimp, I busted open the last few and it was in them all, I understand some places do this but it’s not mentioned and I was grossed out so my food wasted. If I had known I would have gotten a different meal. Whatever we decided the food tasted okay for the most part and wouldn’t worry a lot. Once she brought the check we paid cash, change should have been 18.65. She brings back 18 due to a penny shortage?? Umm excuse me but that’s 2 quarters, a dime and nickel I’m supposed to get back and it’s damn near a whole dollar? So honestly, after that too I will probably never go back. Several things that should have been handled differently and just weren’t that ruined what could have been a good experience.

Our party ordered onion rings and fried pickles appetizers, salads, the catfish plates, rack of ribs, and fries. Our hosts are regulars there and advised us that the portions were generous so be ready to take food home. Everything tasted great, presented nicely and in a reasonable amount of time. Our server, Victoria, is a credited to her employers. She made sure that we had everything we needed, napkins, drinks, condiments, and was the most pleasant person I've met in a while. I only gave 4 stars for the food because when I was served my ribs they were warm, not hot. They tasted fine but I like them a little hotter, being a personal preference. I would have liked applesauce served with them but I cannot name a place that serves it with pork so I usually bring my own. Still, everything was great. We will definitely go there again. Definitely family friendly, too!!

Was craving gumbo as the weather has turned so I hit up Cherry Creak. I want to think it’s great but it’s a miss for me. My first bite had me running thru my head bc it reminded me of something that wasn’t gumbo. Its tomato soup! If I didn’t grow up eating authentic LA food, I might have loved it.
As for the rest of my meal, the shrimp, hush puppies, & mashed potatoes were solid. Not stingy with bread or condiments. Love!
The mac & cheese left much to be desired. Weakest link for sure.
