I was a patron of China Cafe for over 15 years. Partially out of convenience due to the location being so close to my office, but mainly because of the delicious food and great service I received every time I dined in or picked up takeout. My office finally opened back up (thanks COVID-19) and my first lunch stop was to China Cafe. Heartbreaking to see the place was closed down. If you guys plan on opening up again, I have an office of 20+ that would love to welcome you back.

This place was my local 'go to' Chinese restaurant. Called June 27 to place a take out order and the phone was disconnected. Stopped by. The door was open, the place was dark, and the man inside said they were closed. Based on the overturned furniture and the general disarray, I'm guessing this place is permanently closed. Very sad.

My General Tso and Sesame chicken place. :(Where'd you go? I miss you guys!This has been one of my mainstays since moving to Austin. Creepy no route message on phone was the first bad sign. I even drove up to the place one day just to be sure...and, alas, closed doors.Chinese and Thai to-go have long been choice comfort food spots, and I've always been particular about sauces. I prefer thicker and/or tangier sauces. Recognizable as sweet, but not too sweet--i.e., tastes like sugar with some flavored liquid in it. This is the place that ruined my palette for the chain Chinese food and set a bar only one other Chinese place in Austin has reached. (‸‶)I don't eat red meat, so I can't speak to many of their dishes. Their preparation is very consistent. The garlic chicken has fallen out of my regular rotation--now two strong (^^ ;)--three if I include the gyoza vegetable dumplings. (I met you too late, dumplings!)Thank you for all the fish--and by that I mean chicken, of course. O7

We ordered almost $100 worth of food and I was disappointed by everything except the rice and egg foo young. The chicken with Carlin sauce had a lot of inedible pieces, and no flavor to speak of. The hot and sour soup was so sour, we couldn’t eat it. Basically we enjoyed about $20 worth of our dinner. Happy Mother’s Day me.

Food is pretty good. This was my first time going to China Cafe. Next time I will try something with a bit more flavor, everything was a bit bland for my taste! I will try the Spicy things next! Very quick curb side service!
We got food via DoorDash and have to admit that is was probably the worse Chinese food I have ever tried. Sorry. I make it a point to ensure balanced reviews as you will see with my other posts. Not sure how they achieved 4 stars to date. The chicken was overdone. The Mongolian beef had a 1:20 ratio of beef to onions. The dumplings were raw dough. Sorry folks. My fortune cookie reads "You will find another place to eat".

Really disappointing main dish of spongy fried tofu in black bean sauce. Shouldn't have even been on the DoorDash menu since it's not a complete meal, just tofu. If it hadn't arrived so late I might have cooked up some vegetables to add to it. I will say you can tell by the taste of the egg rolls that the fryer is clean. I won't be ordering from them again.
