Stopped into Chupacabra Cantina on East 6th and it’s a decent option when you want Tex-Mex and a lively bar vibe in the same place. The atmosphere is fun and casual, and it’s easy to pop in for tacos, a margarita, and some music. The good stuff: quick bites hit the spot and the drinks are easy to order. The not-so-good: when it’s packed, service can slow down and the food can feel a little inconsistent depending on what you get. Overall, I’d go back for a laid-back pre-game...
We saw the food photos online and were excited to sit and have a snack before heading to a nearby comedy show. We walked by and were confused, because it doesn't look anything like the photos and definitely didn't appear to have food. We were going to leave, but were ushered in and decided to have a drink since we were already here. The bartender was impatient with me, but did help my friend kindly with a beer and I appreciated that. It was very slow at the time...
Joe the bartender was lovely. My bf and I were visiting austin and he took fantastic care of us at the bar and gave us GREAT taco recommendations (and was an East Coast-er like us!). The giant marg was the size of my skull and then some, and we even did a shot on the house. This place rocked, thanks Joe from Brooklyn!
