Was in Austin for a few hours before catching a flight, and i wanted Texas BBQ. Coopers was recommended by a bartender, and he was spot on. Brisket was perfectly done, slaw was amazing and I can’t find the words to accurately describe how good the jalapeño bacon Mac n cheese was. Topped it off with a local lager and it was amazing lunch. TOP NOTCH!!!!!
Had bbq in Austin that's very tender, but lacks flavor? Me too.
Cooper's BBQ has flavor! Cole slaw and cornbread are great too. But the beef ribs and brisket!!!
Staff is friendly and fun. It feels like a locals spot. Jim (bartender) introduced us to almost the entire staff on our first visit.
Cannot wait to eat here again.

Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que in Austin remains a top choice for barbecue, offering well-done dishes at fair prices, making it a very popular spot. Known for its consistent high quality, the restaurant provides a variety of options like brisket, turkey, coleslaw, and potato salad. The brisket is well-seasoned and juicy, while the turkey has impressed many, including those who normally wouldn't order it. The restaurant features fun elements such as a bar for ordering beers and a big pot of beans warming next to pickles and onions. The Amazing Apple pie continues to be a must-try dessert. Great for group gatherings, it avoids the long waits of other famous BBQ joints. Although prices may be on the higher side, many customers find the food, including the highly praised coleslaw and jalapeño Mac and cheese, to be worth it. Visitors to downtown Austin are encouraged to check it out, as they are likely to enjoy their experience.
