Consistent barbecue that you get at their other locations. I've frequented their Fort Worth location many times. This was my first time here in Austin.
Fun little place in downtown. Very different from the expansive locations in other places.
Not sure if pricing was the same, but appeared similar to other Cooper's locations.
This time I got the brisket and turkey. Both were done well and were delicious.
Amazing food and service.
Everyone one told me Franklin's and Terry Blacks, but i choose here. 103 bucks for 1/2 pound of average brisket and 5 ribs. Very disappointed my worst meal in Austin.
Food is over salted and over peppered. This is not even close to good BBQ. BBQ sauce is not Texas style BBQ. Shame!!
This places wasn’t bad at all ordered me a beer from the bar then proceeded to order some stuff I ordered some jalapeño macaroni and cheese and I got some brisket and a beef rib and that big ass pork chop that thing was seriously like 2 and a half inches thick and I really like how they had the beans in a big pot warming next to the pickles and onions the brisket was well seasoned and juicy and those beans paired with the beef ribs was great and that pork chop wasn’t cooked right or something it was super tough but it wasn’t dry and I paid like 76 bucks alone for that pork chop and it wasn’t even worth that at all besides that everything else was good
Good brisket and bbq options. It’s gotten very expensive. Little bit of brisket and sausage was almost $40.
Food is amazing!! Staff very friendly and answered questions (they knew we were not from Austin 😊). Food is pricey but very worth it. If you are visiting downtown Austin, please come check them out, you will not be disappointed.
Had bbq in Austin that's very tender, but lacks flavor? Me too. Cooper's BBQ has flavor! Cole slaw and cornbread are great too. But the beef ribs and brisket!!! Staff is friendly and fun. It feels like a locals spot. Jim (bartender) introduced us to almost the entire staff on our first visit. Cannot wait to eat here again.
Best BBQ we ate on the trip. Far superior to Terry Black's BBQ. Conveniently located in Downtown near the JW Marriott, within walking distance from Four Seasons and other major hotels. Tender meats, well seasoned inside and outside, not too salty. Corn bread is a must get side. Husband said, "Cole slaw was fantastic." Walk in and get to the counter along the wall, pick your meat, then walk along the cabinets to pick out bottle drinks and salads. Then you hit the hot sides. Get the corn bread! Proceed to check out. After checkout, there's a free condiment station for all you can get: - House made BBQ sauce, wee bit on the acidic vinegar side - house made pork beans - onions - pickle slices - real silverware & wet naps (you get cheap plastics at Terry Blacks that can't cut anything) You can bring your canteen tray of meat to sit at the bar. Be sure to say hi and chat with Jim (bartender). Super nice and you can make a friend or meet a fellow traveler sitting at the bar top. The staff have all been here and worked together a long time. You hear stories of them painting the walls, putting together the chairs you sit in, and see their family and kids photos on the way. Plenty of group tables and benches around. I cannot recommend enough to come here for Texan BBQ, Austin hospitality, and a great memorable experience.
BesT BBQ i have ever had
Restaurantji Recommends
Dined with my family on a weekend get away from San Antonio , great experience in beautiful downtown Austin, brisket and sausage was great, loved the seasoning on the brisket. Best peach cobbler I’ve had from any restaurant ever. I wish I took extra home with me.
Horrible service and food,
Wanted to love the place, but the chicken was basically flavorless, zero smoke flavor, as were the beans, like no seasoning. The bbq sauce tastes like warm tomato soup. Cool spot maybe to drink and watch a game but food was very mid.

First of all the sauce was the best I ever had. It is served warm and you could literally drink it like coffee. You select the meat you want and they weigh it by the meat and pound. A huge variety although they did not have pulled pork.
The meat is wrapped in butcher paper making it a fun way to open up and eat off the paper.
The brisket was perfect. The turkey again some
Of the best I have had at BBQ places.
The sausage was definitely in house made. My favorite meat was the sirloin steak. First time having smoked sirloin. I actually went back to get more.
Ribs were just okay.
They have picnic tables to sit at making the experience fun as you share table space with others.
Mac n cheese was full of cheddar and many other cheeses.
Highly recommended!!!
