Wow. I never expected to find real Malaysian food in Austin. Authentic flavours, which weren’t skimped out.

Had the seafood char kway teow - 100% recommend. Must be an amazing wok out back :)

AI summary of business description is wrong. It is NOT located in a gas station. It is in the back of a small gourmet grocery, The Royal Blue.

Got the char kway teow, roti canai, satay chicken plate, and curry laksa. I lived in Malaysia for a year and this place made authentic food! I was impressed. Liked everything except the curry laksa — the curry sauce wasn’t quite right, it didn’t taste like curry and just wasn’t good. The noodles also weren’t good, I think they used typical chow mein egg noodles which don’t work well texture wise and also isn’t what’s typically used in Malaysia. I think rice noodles and/oror udon-like noodles would have been better. Everything else tho was delicious and was a wonderful reminder of Malaysian cuisine. Only other note is-hope they stop using styrofoam!

This place is an absolute gem. I randomly stumbled in and had one of the best curry laksa ever.

Our group ordered the wings, roti, curry laksa, chicken satay, flat beef noodle, and seafood flat noodle. Everything was delicious.

We met the chef (and owner) and she was incredibly kind.

p.s. This isn’t a food truck, this kitchen is inside a Royal Blue convenient store.

Char kway teo was great!

Tldr: I really don't like the hype this restaurant gets and I don't think it is good food, especially not good Malaysian food. I've had better Malaysian food in Minnesota, which has even less diversity than Austin. I'd recommend driving to Houston for cheaper AND significantly better Malaysian food than Week's

Honestly, one of the worst Malaysian restaurants I've been to. The curry that came with the roti canai was extremely watery both times I tried this out. The roti itself was only ok - Spicy Boys has better Roti canai and curry!

The satay was very mid as was all the other food. The Wat Tan Hor was bland - and when the owner served it she told me "vegetarian Wat Tan Hor isn't good, next time get meat" - if that's the case, then why put it on your menu? Either way, I've had delicious veggie Wat Tan Hor - it doesn't require meat to be good

The most disappointing dish was the Bakuteh- I don't see it on the menu anymore, but it was sooooo grainy at the bottom and the soup was cloudy. The owner said she cooks each bowl individually to order but anyone who has had real Bakuteh before knows that the broth is amazing bc it cooked for HOURS. If every bowl is made to order, how are you getting any flavor?

I’m no stranger to restaurants inside of other businesses, but this one took some getting used to. While there are a few tables inside of Royal Blue, Wee’s is definitely better equipped for takeout. There’s a separate register toward the front of the store for you to place your order. However, there’s a very good chance the proprietor will be in the back making food, so it’s really a spot for you to browse the menu and order online.

Once you get past the set-up, however, Wee’s is very, very good. The menu offers Malaysian curries, noodles, satays, snacks, and drinks. I opted for a beef rendang and a Thai green tea. After about 15-20 minutes, Wee emerged to hand me my order. She gave me a warm greeting and seemed invested in me enjoying my meal.

And enjoy it I did! The meat was tender, the sauce rich and creamy, and the coconut flavors paired well with the pickled vegetables. There was also a lot of it: for $18, I felt like I got my money’s worth.

Wee’s Cozy Kitchen is easy to miss unless you’re looking for it, but if you stop by, you’re in for a treat.
