Enjoyed a lovely, high-end meal with my wife. They answered all of our questions and, being a fan of MeatEater & Jesse Griffiths, I was thankful for their patience with me asking so many:) If you go (and they're available), you MUST try the wild hog flautas with a semi-spicy broth; the sour cream on top was fresh and garnishes were wholesome and rugged. Sadly, due to the seasonality they did not have any of their famous sauerkraut but we will be back to request it again.

Texas cooking aint all Post Oak smoked Brisket, wash your sister sauce (yes I actually know how to pronounce Worchestershire), and cream of something something. Dai Due is like a cross between Charleston's Husk and Lion Share San Diego. A mix of local, heirloom and indigenous floral/fauna with French technique and James Beard creativity.
Not only is everything made in house like their fermented hot sauce to their from scratch wild game Pastrami and house baked rye/sourdough, but the mix of interesting flavor combinations and their high level of Provenance makes them stand alone.
The outside is unassuming, but in the interior looks like it could be a bakery/coffee shop, but cozy enough to have deep conversations (mostly about the amazing food). I call it comfort classy.
Being part butcher shop I suggest you take something hope from the display as I, as a home chef always draw inspiration with each visit to see Chef Jesse Griffiths. A lovely man whose charm and passion is passed through the hiring of a great staff who are equally as welcoming and attentive. Make reservations, go from Brunch and then come back for Dinner for that completely different experience.
Prices are in line with the quality and craft and something of a treat for me as I know what it takes to make/use heirloom grits or make your own sausage properly from such lean game meats along with extracting peak flavor from everything. You wont go broke and you probably wont overeat as these foods aren't meant for overindulgence. Quality over quantity. Satisfying in a way that it's like we were supposed to eat like this the whole time and not eat so glutonously.
With an ever evolving menu I've been able to get the pork chop, pate and burger everytime while also trying something new each time as well. Their salad's aren't overloaded with bitter greens like raddichio and brassicas. Their dressings are balanced in acidity and sweetness to their fresh herbs (not dried and rehydrated). I could go on and on about each dish I've had, but just know any dinning experience here is unlike anything you'll have anywhere for hundreds of miles and each experience will be different, but have continuity. To me their mission statement is flavor and quality.
As a world traveler from California I love telling my friends to come to Austin for BBQ, but then send them here and see what is the first thing they tell me about as their favorite meal and it's a pretty even split between how good Texas BBQ (Brisket usually) is and how memorable Dai Due was for them.

My man took me here for my birthday and OMG it was incredible! I didnt have much knowledge about the animals listed on the menu as I don't hunt, but the waitress was so informative and sweet and really took the time to explain each dish to us as well as what pairs best with what. She even made a great suggestion for my 10 month old daughter, as well!! 10/10 totally recommend!

Enjoyed a beautiful brunch on the patio. Everything from the champagne to the beet ketchup for the fries was delicious. The back patio was the perfect setting for the meal. The flautas set the stage - offering warm broth topped with crunchy tortilla and tender boar. The pastrami sandwich was as good as any - dripping with sauerkraut and beet dressing. And the fries were completely devoured by the end of the meal. Can’t way enough how much we enjoyed this spot. An anniversary brunch that will now be in our regular rotation.

All the food we had was perfectly prepared, and delicious! We sat outside, and although it was 45 degrees that evening the heaters and wool blankets kept us very cozy.

Overall, all the food was outstanding. We (6) of us all ordered a different entrees. The cheese board was wonderful. Needed more melba crisps. The pear jam was superb! All entrees (Wild boar confit, Tartar, Black Drum, and Quail were outstanding . The only entree which was inedible was the Burger. It was like eating a salt block. We took it home and I was unable to eat it. Unbelievable!! We ordered 3 desserts, the butterscotch pudding (just okay), the Basque cake (superb, took an extra piece to go) and the apple tart (superb). One of my guests ordered the burger, and didn't say anything until we were ready to leave. Had I known, I would have sent it back! Over, amazing food. I will go back when I return to Texas. This was my second visit.

This is fine wild game dining. Its a great representation of how wild game can be dressed up with the best and even better than your standard market meats. The textures are different and the flavors vary depending on so many variables. Come with an open mind and ready to take some ideas home to get more out of your harvests! The service was excellent and the atmosphere is perfect, rustic and most of the cooking is done in view. I dont think you will regret it.

The food is amazing! Everything I had was delicious. But the ribs were by far the best! Sweet, tangy, and so tender. The service was top notch as well. Very accommodating and friendly. Asked of any dietary restrictions and with one of the people in the group having some, they was sure to disclose if something was in it.

Excellent script. No notes. What a fantastic meal. We had the tallow-fried, wild boar carnitas flautas, beef fat fries with beet ketchup and chile mayo, the pastrami sandwich, and the dry aged Longhorn cheeseburger. Everything was exceptional, including the service.
