The chicken was good. Pork ribs were not the best. I liked the bread because it’s treated with butter. The light spicy sauce came with the tray was pretty good though!

This place is a huge culprit of the ol' shrinkflation. I've enjoyed the flavors that they integrate with their dishes over the past few years, but the portion sizes have gotten out of control. The sandwich buns are surprising small and today the slaw on the side was about 1 tablespoon

Burnt ends and black eyed peas were missing the burnt ends! Very little to no meat in the dish. Misleading.
Peas were under cooked.
Brisket was not bad but the serving was very small. Too expensive.

I had the brisket and the chicken leg. Both incredible. Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Highly recommend. It's at a cool place to hang as well in Meanwhile. Cheers!

Distant Relatives is fantastic! We got the brisket, pork ribs, chicken quarters, and black eyed peas with burnt ends. They were all delicious and cooked perfectly. I can’t wait to come back and try more!

Food was good but service was okay. I let the cashier know that I have a peanut allergy and she did not care. We got our food and there were two cups of peanuts on our meat of tray. I mean I guess a persons life is not a concern?!!

Such an interesting fusion of Texas BBQ with African flavors. I enjoyed the aromatic sausage and the pork ribs. The sweet potato was tasty too. The smoked peanuts had some kick to it...

I flew in from Virginia to find these guys and was so glad to catch some of the last bbq before they closed! They recommended the tomahawk chops and I added a beef hot link and have never had anything like it. It was phenomenal. The chop was the best pork bbq I have had in Texas! I can wait to get back and try more of the menu. Thanks Xavier!

My wife and I have made a habit of hitting all the best bbq in the region. Franklins, Interstellar, Valentina’s (when they are open) etc.
Distant Relatives is toe to toe with any of them. Spare ribs (short side) were absolutely delicious, juicy and perfect. The Brisket deserves a capital “b”. Moist, beautiful ring, a near perfect bark/rub. I also had the black eyes which in my opinion was one of the best sides I have had literally anywhere.
Can’t wait to come back, GREAT BBQ.

This is a food truck inside Meanwhile Brewing. When we got there, they were out of everything we wanted except the brisket. Brisket was flavorful but ours was very fatty. 1/2 lb portion ended up being 1/3 lb maybe. Came here to get food from these guys, so it was very disappointing.

When this truck first opened, it was one of my favorite BBQ spots. The past few times I went it was spotty: very salty pulled pork, inedible fatty brisket gristle served. They also used to serve pickled carrots and nicer bread with the plates. Now you get raw onion. QC needed.
