I've been eating at this spot for years... Since the old man was still there... Today was just a bad experience. It's not a very big place to begin with. My server took my drink order and literally forgot about me after that... I watch several people come in and have orders taken and receive food. They also were brought chips and salsa. I asked for chips and salsa and when she came back she brought chips... No salsa... I asked where was the salsa and she replied "it doesn't come with salsa". I replied that she'd brought both to 3 tables before me. She then walked off. I walked up to the counter and heard her speaking in Spanish about my request. A cook looked at her and scooped me a small bowl. I understood every word. I watched food being brought to the wrong tables. I really hope this doesn't happen again... My food was fine but my service experience kept me there longer than I needed to be and was subpar to say the least.

Moved here to Austin about 2 months ago. At work we have tons of food trucks. I’ve tried them all including taco palenque. I’m here to tell you this is the best Mexican food I’ve had thus far.

Food is good we love coming here , recently it's been alittle off sadly... we love getting barbacoa tacos but recently they've been giving us nothing but chunks of pure fat :( no actually meat just chunks of fat in our tacos kinda feeling ripped off at this point cause its happened a few times now.

Overall El Faro is an okay spot. They are very quick and service was great. I got 2 breakfast tacos and an order of queso. Kind of disappointed in the size of queso for paying $6.99. Taste was fine I love the addition of the pico de gallo but there were so many onions. Tacos were good. A bit bland but the salsas were delicious. If you are in a rush and need a quick place this is a good spot.

I’ve had great and amazing gorditas here. Highly recommend them. The chimichanga, do yourself a favor and pass. If you’re into drizzled like nacho cheese these are for you. Otherwise, skip.The staff is friendly, attentive and someone is a fan of lighthouses because that’s part of the decor. ?

I love the beef fajita torta and the caldo de res are always my go to. Service is quick and staff is really friendly!

When on a budget and want to eat well, come here. All of their enchiladas [yes I've tried them all], gordita plate, camarones al Diablo are good. Oh, and unfortunately the buffet thing is not a thing anymore but who knows, maybe it will be a thing soon.
