A terrific meal! From the queso fundido, served with the best corn tortillas ever, through the mole negro with duck, to the Basque cheesecake; everything was spot on. I also felt honored when Iliana stopped by our table to see how everything was. A birthday dinner I will never forget.

Authentic interior Mexican cuisine. Mole that’ll make you emotional. Great wine pairings too.

El Naranjo’s food is always excellent. Their menu often features drinks and dishes inspired by specific states in Mexico. I’ve had and enjoyed their dinner before (highly recommend the filete and house-made ice cream), but this was my first time having brunch. The queso fundido (with handmade corn tortillas), ceviche and huevos benedictos were all impressive. I definitely scarfed down the queso before managing a photo (oops). And I definitely couldn’t go without a jar or 4 of their salsa macha. They do ship, but I still tend to purchase extra whenever I’m in Austin.

One the best restaurants in Austin. If you are looking for consistent high quality Mexican (vs Tex-Mex) food and drinks, this place is your best bet. I come often with my wife and sons for Sunday brunch (try Conchas and Enfrijoladas), and also for dinner (try queso fundido with huitlacoche and blue corn hand-made tortillas appetizer). Don’t forget to ask for a house/classic margarita -those are the real thing.

The food was not at all impressive. There was really no flavor and absolutely no comparison to authentic Mexican food we've had in Mexico. We had a table for 6 and tried many things on the menu. Ceviche was flavorless and forgetful. Chille relleno was crunchy and gross. Mole with chicken had an overcooked chicken breast and mole was unimpressive. Way too expensive for flavorless food when even a street taco stand would have been better. Tilapia 'el diablo' was cooked well but really basic over some rice and not worth $36 plus they want extra for vegetables on the side? Why not include that and give your guests a little more wow? Service and drinks were good but will not be returning. I can't believe this place has won awards. This does not come close to any flavors we've had in Mexico.

If I could give this place a -5, I would. Easily the worst experience I’ve had in Austin.

The atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming, with hard seating that made it incredibly uncomfortable to stay for more than minutes. . Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, the noise level was bizarrely high—echoey and disruptive.

The menu was extremely limited, and the prices were absolutely outrageous for what little they offered. To top it all off, the staff were unfriendly and seemed completely disinterested in providing a good experience.

Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Austin has far better to offer.

Unremarkable surroundings showcase average tasting food. Pork was a 4-5 star but duck gamey and not prepared well. Drinks are pricey even for Austin. Waiter was very sweet but novice at best.

Great place to have brunch with the family. The cafe de olla hit the spot. The kids loved the conchas! I orders the chilaquiles with a fried egg. Can’t wait to go back for dinner.

My wife and I had a fantastic meal here last Friday.
A bit pricey for what we are used to paying for Mexican food, and it was a different experience than Tex-Mex, which we love as well. All made from scratch, and their tortillas are what you would eat in the interior of Mexico. We recommend El Naranjo highly for a different and wonderful dining experience. The service was excellent, and the owners came by twice to ask us how we liked our food. I asked about their tortillas and got the full scoop on why they are so great. Waiters were kind and knowledgeable.

Incredible food. Wonderful, all made from scratch. Meat and sauces were incredible. I had a cocktail, it was delicious and light. Can't recommend highly enough, will be back.

Gerry was the perfect waiter, and was so helpful in choosing the right meals for us. His recommendations were spot on.
