Best Mexican food I’ve eaten outside of Mexico.

Giving a 4 star review mostly because we weren't impressed by our main entrees, huevos rancheros and enmoladas. The queso fundido with chorizo and corn tortillas did not disappoint though. Atmosphere is enjoyable and service was good.

Wow! The mole was amazing, and I'm not sure if I've ever had better guacamole. The atmosphere was great too, laid back but still felt like a special place to dine.

What a lovely dinner on a Friday night. The vibrant flavors in the ceviche was sensational. The mole had a subtle complexity where we enjoyed every bit. A la diabla dish (not pictured) was the right spice level to where you could appreciate the flavor of each pepper 🌶️. This is a lot of words to simply say - 5 stars.

Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! First and foremost, our server Sarah was fantastic. The food was beyond amazing and the seasonal cocktail was delicious. This is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to.

We’ve been going to El Naranjo since their previous location and always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, this is the third time we’ve found human hair in our food at the new location. The first time we thought it might’ve been an accident, but after two more times, it’s completely unacceptable. It’s a real shame because the food itself is great, but the hygiene standards are clearly not. It seems like employees aren’t wearing hairnets or following proper sanitation practices, and that’s just not okay for any restaurant. Until they address this issue seriously, we won’t be coming back.

El Naranjo is one of the best restaurants we have been in. We had the pork shank and the braised beef-they were prepared perfectly and paired with sides that were complementary to their distinct flavors. Spices local to the Oaxaca region of Mexico were blended in way that were flavorful without being overpowering. The wait staff was excellent, explaining each dish and answering questions. We highly recommend this restaurant. Yes, it’s pricier than other restaurants but is a fine dining experience that you won’t find in many other restaurants.
Unique Oaxacan spot in Austin, above average for creativity, service, quality. Highly recommend! Need to try the brunch next.

I got:
The empanadas: could be filled with anything really, the masa is a pillowy blanket wrapping the filling with the lightest crisp on the outside from being perfectly fried.
Pulpo & papas: perfect! Octopus was cooked perfectly. I actually wanted to lick the plate.
Chamorro: this pork shank was huge and split well between. 2-3 ppl. It comes with tortillas but it's not enough. Ask for extra when ordering. This citrus notes in the pork coupled with the pickled onions were unfeogetable.
The drinks: We had four cocktails off of the menu and all four were wonderful.
10/10 I do recommend a visit.

Ridiculously delicious food and drinks, Gerry gave great service.
This restaurant offers an authentic Mexican dining experience, with incredibly friendly staff and delicious food. It’s also quite vegetarian-friendly. We tried the chocolate tamales with marigold ice cream, and they were absolutely amazing.

We visited this place mainly for the chiles en nogada, the fact that they serve them it's already a win and they were good. Tortillas here are really good as well, kinda reminds me of my home town.
