We were drawn back by the menu descriptions in the February newletter and so started with the La Catrina Negra drink. The marigold flower powder was a very fun addition. The Queso appetizer was wrapped in hoja santa leaves that our server told us were grown in Chef Iliana's own garden. The Estofado Istmeno was also delicious. The crowning touch was the Tamal de Chocolate with orange blossom ice cream. We like the ice cream so much we ordered an extra bowl. Can't wait...
Really enjoy this place for its authentic food and gluten free friendly menu. Our server was great and helped guide us through the menu. Drinks were yummy and the mole is the best I've had in Austin.
I read about this restaurant in Food & Wine magazine. They painted a glowing picture and the actual restaurant did meet those standards. However, I asked for a quiet table and such does not exist in this restaurant. Very noisy to say the least. But food and service were amazing. The house margaritas are great! I would go again, but hopefully when it's not so busy and loud.
