I am unsure why this place isn't super busy. The people are so nice and the place is owned by the same people that own fat Dragon Chinese. The food is really good, pretty good quality for really reasonable pricing and really cute decorations ♡ my husband and I came here for a date night and the food was yummy .

We went here for the sushi happy hour. The prices are great but the quality of the sushi was very subpar. Not sure why this place is rated as highly as it is. I’m sure the non sushi items are decent but we did not enjoy what we ordered. The atmosphere is very lacking as well.

Let me start off by saying I have no clue why this place isn't more popular. Their prices are fantastic, especially if you come during happy hour which they even offer on Saturdays (!!), and their sushi tastes great! I went with my partner during happy hour and got the Caterpillar roll and a salmon roll. My partner got the Favorites roll, UT roll, and salmon nigiri. All of them were great! However the UT roll came with spicy mayo on it (which it didn't mention on the physical menu in the restaurant, but appears to be listed on the online order menu). I can't handle spicy foods but neither of my partner's rolls were uncomfortably spicy even for my spice intolerance, so I was happy I was able to try a piece of his rolls without regrets! Lol Will definitely be back, this place is cute, comfy and affordable.

It's so good the happy hour is a perfect price and the happy hour is very long and the people are very nice especially Jerry ? definitely worth it the place is so nice and has cozy booths with a curtain and lantern ? they also get very big portions of the food very great prices and good service

Got overcharged for my order which we sorted out. Then I only got half m order until I reminded them. Completely missed it.
But service aside the sushi is not good. Was not fresh. Could get the same or better from HEB. Even the pickled ginger was dry and old looking.

Fat Dragon: Disappointing on Both Sides

Fat Dragon promises a two-sided dining experience with a sushi bar and a separate menu, but unfortunately, neither side impressed. The food itself was just okay.

On the negative side, the location wasn't the greatest, which put a damper on the overall ambiance. The food was just average. The fried rice was bland and needed a significant amount of soy sauce to be enjoyable. Even the sushi, which seemed to be the stronger option, lacked something and required an extra dousing of soy sauce to become truly palatable.

While adding soy sauce can sometimes enhance a dish, it shouldn't be necessary to make the food edible. Overall, this experience at Fat Dragon wasn't very memorable, and with so many other restaurants offering tastier options, I wouldn't recommend it and likely won't be returning.
