Went here in the spur of a moment for a Friday evening dinner. Sat at the bar top. Was able to watch the kitchen scene. It was such a pleasant & lively evening. Had the famous popovers for an appetizer. And their burger and fennel sausage pasta for dinner. We ate so fast I didn't get pics. Everything was delicious. I do recommend as an intimate & thoughtful neighborhood joint.
Best night! Best food! We loved how quaint the restaurant was and the service/ vibe was perfect for our date night!
Exquisite food in a lowkey but hip setting. Flexible enough in ambiance to dress up or down.
Foreign & Domestic continues to be one of Austin's standout gems – a true pioneer in farm-to-table and nose-to-tail dining. Treated clients to an incredible evening here, starting with their masterful small plates (those legendary Gruyère popovers are an absolute must – fluffy, cheesy perfection!). We then dove into the chef's tasting menu, a seasonal, multi-course journey that showcased bold creativity with locally sourced ingredients and international flair. Every dish was innovative, balanced, and delicious, highlighting sustainable whole-animal usage without a single misstep. The service was warm and attentive, the North Loop vibe cozy yet elevated. Highly recommend for anyone seeking thoughtful, elevated dining in ATX. We'll be back soon! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
we had wonderful and warm service (a few items were given free d/t some longer wait times) that was greatly appreciated. and the food was DELICIOUS. the gnocchi were melt in your mouth creamy and the mains were all so flavorful. pecan pie >>>. 10/10 recommend!

Wonderful service and great food. The dishes we had were all really tasty and somewhat unique. We will be back.
Very good. Original and unique recipes. Good service which was effective, efficient, polite but not intrusive.
Once again blown away by F&D. We were celebrating my birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make me feel special. Every dish was exquisite as always. The fish of the day was cooked to perfection, the pate was hands down my favorite I've ever had. Even the stewed okra and tomatoes were bursting with a depth of flavor that F&D consistently provides. Thank you to the whole staff for yet another memorable dining experience.

Foreign & Domestic has a tight, focused vibe and a menu that refuses to phone it in. Everything feels intentional. The dishes are creative without being weird-for-the-sake-of-weird, and the execution is strong. Apps and mains are dialed in, clearly handled by a kitchen that knows what it's doing. If you're bored of the usual farm-to-table shtick around town, this place actually earns the “unique menu” praise.
That said, the drink situation is a letdown. Beer and wine only. If you want something beyond a glass of red or white, you're out of luck.
Space is small, so expect tight quarters and some noise. They handle it well, but don't come here thinking you're getting a quiet date-night cocoon. It’s cozy, not serene.
Service is friendly and on-point. Staff know the menu, move efficiently, and don’t make you feel rushed. Bonus points: you might get an impromptu Shakespeare warm-up before dinner if you’re lucky. Austin gonna Austin.
Bottom line: excellent food, inventive menu, great people, weak drink program. Go for the food, accept the noise, and pre-game your cocktail somewhere else.

Had a great dinner last night with my wife. We enjoyed the foraged mushrooms tasting dinner
The food was amazing as always. Popovers, coconut cream corn, and pork collar were stars. Frank is a special server that made my birthday special with his sense of humor.
We've been here three times, most recently for an anniversary dinner last night. Their food is consistently great and we've always had a wonderful time. The special cinnamon bread pudding dessert was incredible, and even the starter salad was memorable and delicious.

We went on a Saturday for brunch and were stunned there was seating and we didn't need a reservation. The host and our waiter were absolutely amazing and were all smiles. The food was pretty darn good. We got the pancakes, a cinnamon roll to share and the Croque Madame. Everything was fantastic with the exception of the Croque Madame. The insides were severely lacking any filling. It was mostly just bread. Regardless, the rest of the meal was still great and that one issue wont stop me from returning and trying it again.
