Garage Bar is one of Austin’s coolest spots, tucked away but absolutely worth finding. The speakeasy-style entrance sets the tone for a unique experience, and once inside, you’re greeted with a sleek, intimate space that’s perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet date night.
The cocktails are phenomenal—creative, perfectly balanced, and made with precision. Whether you go for a classic or one of their signature drinks, you’ll always get something memorable. The bartenders are true pros who are happy to recommend drinks based on your tastes, adding a personal touch to the experience.
Garage Bar nails the balance between being sophisticated and unpretentious. It’s a spot you’ll want to keep coming back to, whether you’re a local or just visiting Austin. Five stars for great drinks, stellar service, and an unbeatable vibe!

Cool, cozy, stylish spot with a mix of interesting and classic drinks in a urban-retro space. The hostess and bartender were both so so lovely, drinks were fast and delicious. Had a great time just relaxing on the lounge couches and enjoying the music. We went on a Wednesday night, so I'm sure it's usually a lot busier, but it was 10/10 for us!

Really fun experience and wonderful drinks! The Sun-up Dust-up was a wonderfully smoky mescal cocktail that conjures up a creamy morning coffee / tea with the added excitement of a bit of booze! For any lovers of mescal with clay-pot flavors on the nose, this cocktail allows the mescal to shine without tamping out those flavors.

CLASSY! Very intimate, candle lit and relatively affordable for a speakeasy. Definitely crowded for sure, seating is first come, but drinks were good and bar staff was mostly attentive. Love how there is a cute smoking area outside.

We had a great experience. Our bartender Pablo was very knowledgeable and made us custom cocktails that weren’t on the menu that were so good. We went early so it wasn’t too busy but it definitely started to fill up by the time we left. Not the easiest to find but I think that’s by design

I'd give six stars if I could.
Location - fantastic, parking is (obviously) very close, easy to locate thence or from the 4th Street bars a few steps away.
Atmosphere - great for a cocktail bar where you want to actually be able to talk without yelling. Low light but enough to read a menu, layout lends itself to easy access to the bar from any seat. Seating is a little tight but the host/-ess is maintaining a steady flux so you'll always be able to find a seat once inside.
Service - incredible staff. Knowledgeable, attentive, passionate about their craft. I had two drinks from the menu about which they knew the ins and outs of the components, as well as a boulevardier. For the latter they asked what I liked, and unprompted brought out three recommendations with a full rationale and personal opinion on each. Was blown away by the care put into the drinks, and of course the recs were spot on and perfect.
Drinks - could not be improved upon. Incredible variety across the signature menu, and flawless execution on rudiments. For once it felt like the cocktails were crafted rather than assembled, with a keen focus on balance. One of my general experiential observations is that when an establishment lists citric acid or saline in a drink, they demonstrate that they know what they're doing in complementing and contrasting flavors, and in doing so Garage does not disappoint. The En Passant and Penicillin do an absolutely unbelievable job at presenting an impeccable bouquet of flavors, without being too heavyhanded or too dim with any notes. It is an art that I appreciate considerably because it is born of a talent that I cannot recreate at home. For that reason I am continually drawn back to Garage, which I consider one of the best cocktail bars in the state.
If you are considering going to Garage, stop considering, and go.
