The steak was exceptional. They were out of a lot of things on the menu, and the octopus was overcooked and dry. I wish they had a little more nice lighting by the chef table area. Wine selections mainly California.. would go again for a steak if nothing else.

We decided to celebrate our anniversary at the Garrison. They did an amazing job making our night special. Our waiter was knowledgeable about food and wine pairing. The staff was very friendly throughout the night. The food was absolutely amazing. We had the caviar for starters, the porterhouse and Caesar salad as our main and Pistachio Cream Filled Choux, Black Cherry Gelato, Candied Pistachios for dessert. They would come out with small bites throughout to add to the experience. Of course it was a bit pricey, but for the quality and the choices we made, it was expected. Overall it was it was a great experience and I would recommend it.

Our server said they were short wine lists so he took ours back when we sat down. We received a wine list after our 2nd course and didn't receive our wine until we were half finished with our entre course. It took a manager to find the bottle that we ordered. We kept seeing everyone walking in with a glass of something sparkling. When we left we were told reservation guests receive a complimentary glass. We never received one even though we had a reservation. The food was amazing so the back of the house gets 5 stars while the front of the house gets 1 star for an average score of 3.

Garrison! What an incredible establishment! I was lucky enough to be seated at the counter. As I watched the people work in the kitchen, I watched them do such automated tasks with such precision. As if they were surgeons using a scalpel, their attention to detail was incredible. The kitchen was on point and the organization was unimaginable. The ingredients were so fresh, so well cared for, and so well executed in their recipes. As I observed their magic, I was immediately transformed into a time of place that I couldn’t fathom. I don’t think I’ll ever remember, or will ever understand completely this experience, but I highly recommend anyone who comes to this restaurant to sit back and relax, open up their mind up and enjoy. The experience will be memorable and most importantly, legendary. HIGHLY Recommend!!

Amazing dinner for my wife’s birthday and out. Anniversary. The service was outstanding and all courses of the meal were perfectly portioned and delightful! I highly recommend the sharable 24oz Porterhouse…. Mushroom as the side. We’ll be back!!

The food was expensive and mediocre and the server kept interrupting our conversations every few minutes. This is not how the Garrison used to be, very disappointing
These comments are relative to "Upscale" and expected food/experience. The bites, starters, and dessert were VERY well done, presented, and delicious. The mains were subpar to put it lightly. Overpriced just made us expect more and we were disappointed. Bad selection, boring and basic, just not what you want when you purchase a $75 3oz (at best), cut of meat. We each had a difference dish and it was the same. Could reproduce at home or any restaurant and be at or better in taste and quality. Again, all other aspects were superior and well executed, upscale for sure.

Disappointed I had to pay $40 to valet after hour half. Also food wasn't hot, told had blue cheese olives for dirty martini then when drink was brought told me they had ran out. I assumed due to level of restaurant they made them. Was told oh no we buy them by the jar. Spent $300 for 2 people really could have spent that elsewhere and been way happier. Typical hotel restaurant over selling them selves. Check that box will not be back. Especially for Austin to many better options.

I loved my whole experience at Garrison, and that's what it is--an experience as much as a meal. I was seated in front of the kitchen, and it was fun to watch the team. Every bite was unbelievable. I recommend the truffle gougere as a snack to start!
