The state law says you only have to pay servers/bartenders $2.13/hr and then patrons have to come in and subsidize your business by tipping on top of this. You need to do better and pay all your employees a proper living wage - $20/hr min since you also don't cover health benefits. Increase the price of your food if you have to but stop forcing customers to tip on top of your food and drink prices. If you can't manage to do this, then you don't need to be in business. #abolishtippingintexas

We had a pretty bad experience here. You order through your phone, no one ever comes to check on you. I ordered a soup and sandwich combo, after I placed my order they told me they didn't have soup I wanted which could've easily been updated online. Instead they brought me Texas chili, which I didn't really want, and it was freezing cold! Again, no one comes to check on you so I had to walk up to the counter with my coke chili and ask them to reheat it. Our sandwiches were subpar. Oh and hot sauce is $1!

I'm going to miss this dive bar so much. It is my favorite lunch spot. I love that you can do combos. The bread bowls are soooo good, idk how I am going to live without them.!

Where do I begin? The QR codes don’t even work correctly with the menu, and when I asked if I could order at the bar, the hostess scolded me and made us feel very unwelcome right away. All we ordered was a soup and sandwich, and it took over an hour to be served. When dropping the food off, the waitress again was unnecessarily rude due to my companion asking someone in the kitchen when it might be coming. After the wait, the soup was lukewarm and was simply broth. It took forever to close our tab out, and they were extremely rude to us as we were leaving, due to them knowing we were unsatisfied. Luckily, the building has just been purchased and they are shutting down in a few weeks. Nobody will ever have to experience or put up with that poor service & mediocre food again. I am thankful to know I will never have to return to this poor establishment.

If you want to go one more time to get your beer cheese soup in a bread bowl before they close, go for it. But know that the staff has entirely checked out, you might be over charged, and customer service will be at a minimum. Good luck.Edit to up the stars because they fixed the overcharge

Sloooow service, weekday lunchtime, over 1 hour wait for 3 sandwiches. Poor service. Grunge, dirty ambiance. Self ordering with QR code sucks. Employees, servers could care less about customers or if you are even there. No one wants to talk to you and then Toast has the audacity to default a 25% tip.

We have wanted to try this place for awhile, and hearing that it's closing soon decided to go sooner than later. Super convenient and spacious outdoor seating for us and our dog. Able to order through your phone and they bring right to your table. We got two sandwich/soup combos: the philly, the Bacchus, broccoli beer soup and chili. I enjoyed the soup and sandwich, and at the price it's a steal, at least compared to other places. However, I wasn't a big fan of the sandwiches themselves, or the bread. Really enjoyed the potato chips and soup, though! Overall, a nice place to hang with friends, get a drink, and some decent food.

Best sandwiches and clam chowder. The staff is incredibly awesome as well. Always a win! I normally roll with the Julie but all of them are good. Recommend The Godfather too. Finish it off with a spicy marg!

The sandwiches are fantastic, (had the cleopatra, toasted on rye. not usually one to forego meat on my sandwiches but it was delicious.) good vibe, and awesome people.

Ahh this place was soo good!! There was a chicken roaming around out on the patio which made this experience for sure a 10/10!!! The sand which I got was a half julia on a hoagie roll, would def ask for more honest mustard next time (: THE BROCCOLI CHEESE SOUP IN BREAD BOWL IS SO GOOD. I devoured it. Sooo recommend !!!! This place is so worth it for the dollars (: great outside, fun indoors and amazing food!

You know what I freaking love? Gourmands. THE BEST good you'll ever eat- and $5 soup refills?!?! Genius. Everyone is really kind and honestly it's great dive bar vibes. Plus there is a PARKING LOT can I get a hell yeah brother?!

The sandwiches are actually really good! Knocking it down a star because the ambiance isn't the best. It's truly a pub lol.

Not bad for a sammy! But not my favorite sammy in austin. The vibes of the bar are also quite intimidating and scary if you've never been

All the workers have weird attitudes like they hate the customers. There's a short dude behind the bar and he really fashions himself to be a real badass. It's as if they took a bunch of people from failed 90's punk bands and made them serve food and drink. Hilarious.

Simple pub menu of sandwiches, salads & soups, done well. The house made pickles should be sold in bulk, they are so good. The house made potato chips are thick, wavy, and crunchy! The house chili in a bread bowl will fill you up all day and then some. The selection of beverages is outstanding and the prices are moderate to downright cheap at happy hour!
