We were in Austin for the weekend and stopped by after visiting a Christmas bar, looking for some good food. It was my fiancé’s first time here, though I’ve visited before, and this visit definitely didn’t disappoint. We ordered the special—two thighs, two legs, and two sides for $16—and everything came out fresh, hot, and perfectly fried. The chicken was incredibly flavorful and impressed my fiancé, which is not an easy thing to do when it comes to food! The sides were good as well, but the chicken was definitely the star of the meal.

We were seated quickly at the counter as soon as we walked in, which I appreciated. The only downside was that the temperature in the restaurant felt pretty warm, possibly because we were seated close to the kitchen. Still, the laid-back, casual ambiance and the friendly, welcoming staff made the experience enjoyable.

Overall, we’d absolutely come back—especially for that amazing chicken.

Food was absolutely fantastic. Chicken had a bit of a zip to it which made it delicious. Potato salad was spot on great, Mac and cheese was cooked to perfection and the fried okra was finger licking good. Only bad part was the horrific parking. The city of Austin wanted to charge $23 to park for 2 hours in an open dirt lot.

Being from the south, I have very high expectations for fried chicken. This place did not disappoint! Both the food and the service were outstanding. It’s not a fancy restaurant but if you want really good food, this is a good place to go.

This spot absolutely hit the mark for us. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, quick, and welcoming. We were greeted right away, seated immediately, and couldn’t believe how fast the food arrived—less than ten minutes after ordering. The sweet tea was incredible, honestly one of the best I’ve had. The chicken was fried perfectly with great flavor and crunch, and the fries were just as tasty. Everything came out hot, fresh, and satisfying. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we left feeling completely impressed.

Price is right and food was great for the price. Best fried okra I have had. The chicken was moist and juicy and the skin was spicy. The only complaint I had was that the skin wasn't as crunchy as it could have been. Got the medium order of fried okra (it comes in a huge basket), half a chicken fried, chocolate chess pie with ice cream - all for around $20.

Great food, great price, good value, cute little joint downtown. Chicken was hot and crunchy tasty too. Loved the beans as well. Server Gary P was on the ball.

As I write this, I’m still sitting at the table. We haven’t even asked for the check, but I finished the slice of chocolate chess pie and felt the need to write here and tell everyone HOW AMAZING IT IS. I typically don’t handle spice or heat well but the chicken was delicious—the fried part wasn’t overwhelming at all, perfect texture and the heat builds nicely without getting crazy. NOT GREASY AT ALL. The coleslaw wasn’t slimy or too wet, perfectly crisp and flavored. The mac and cheese was also phenomenal. The place itself is very cozy, clean and spacious. All staff was great. Our server, Michael, was as super nice. 100000/10 recommend.

I ordered from here last Sunday and had it delivered to me. The chicken was very dry. My chicken was put in a brown paper bag without a paper tray. The sweet potato pie was very dry as well. This was my first time eating from here and I had the worst experience. I was very disappointed in the taste of my food and how it was just thrown into a paper bag only. It tasted like it had been warmed up from the day before. It didn’t taste fresh at all.

This is the GOAT of fried chicken! The inside is a bit loud but that’s because it’s always packed.

Overall good it does stay busy so if visiting go off peak time. Chicken juicy and Falls right off the bone and flaver so good. I do not tolerate any spice but could take skin off and still yummy!!
