Habanero Cafe in Austin is a true gem for authentic Mexican food! The flavors are spot-on, and everything we tried was delicious. The chicken fajitas and enchiladas were absolutely amazing, and their salsa is the best I’ve had—fresh and full of flavor. One of the best restaurants Austin still has. The staff is exceptionally kind and attentive. Food is classic fresh Texas Mexican cuisine that you crave. Try the verde chicken enchiladas ??Rightfully so they’re busy on the weekends but they get you in rather fast.

First of all before today aI absolutely loved this restaurant and I have been coming here over 15 years. I ordered two tostada's with guacamole. The tostada's barely had toppings and they were wrapped individually in foil. I went back after driving all the way home to eat. The owner proceeded to tell me in the most condiscending way that, that's the way the products done and she said I could not order anything else because we are not a charity. I just simply said that's not the standard that I'm use too. I have never been treated like that by any establishment especially on that's very special to me. I told her she could throw the food away and I will never return again. No the customer may not always be right, but you don't have to insult there intelligence or belittle them because they disagree.
Some of the best tacos I've had in Austin. The service is hit or miss and the wait time and atmosphere are decent depending on when you go. But honestly worth it.

Really authentic. My husband is a chef from Mexico and while we were eating he pointed to the bean soup and said it’s just like my mom makes. That’s big kudos. So glad we happened upon this restaurant. The fajitas were nice and spicy. My had and loved the carnita gordita and barbacoa taco. . The salsa was homemade and the horchata tasted like rice pudding in a cup. Highly recommend this restaurant.
