Such a great location, but just terrible execution. This could be the best coffee shop in Austin if the coffee was good, the food was good, and the furniture wasn’t falling apart. Instead it’s just a study in execution failure. Ownership should be ashamed of themselves.
2024 update: GET. A. TOASTER. This place still has terrible execution.

Food is okay, but the coffee and drinks always hit the spot. They have salsa dancing on select nights. Location is great for any activities before or after coffee or cocktails.

Filthy. Cobwebs on the chair in the morning, dirty floors. Not a nice space to be.

Awful wifi
Cute coffee spot with friendly staff. They also host events.

I never write bad reviews, but I couldn’t believe how poor the service was. The baristas were chatting amongst themselves and gave off the vibe that the customers were bothering them by ordering coffee. I ordered four drinks and the barista tasked with making my drinks instead chatted with his friends in between each drink while I waited, and waited, and waited.

I love Halcyon for the events they organised. I have so far gone there for the dance classes and socials. Mondays for Tango organised by Esquina Tango and Wednesdays and Sundays for Salsa and Bachata. Dance classes are followed by social dancing which is fun!I have never the food nor cocktails here but I always get the vegan hot chocolate. It’s very nice! The staff have been friendly and helpful.Parking around can be a challenge especially on the days of events, so manage your time accordingly or car pool. I generally car pool and park a bit away and walk to Halcyon. I would suggest you follow their Instagram page to get updates on the events prior to attending.
Dietary restrictions: The staff will assist if you ask for vegan options. They usually have non dairy milk options too.

This was my first time in at this location and I was pretty disappointed with the service I received. Despite coming in 2 hours before closing I felt rushed and unwelcomed. The bartender was very clearly trying to focus on side work and getting outta there. I was even served my food and drinks in to go containers! Even though others had been served on plates. It was hard to order another drink as she was not behind the bar for most of the time and instead rushing to clean. I’ve been in the industry for 15 years and I definitely understand wanting to get home and relax as the job can be laborious however I should have received better service. I came in with plenty of time to be served and gone on my way well before closing. Not to mention there was a salsa class going on that went on well into the evening. Prob won’t revisit this location.

Service was mehh, most water down cold brew ever, asked for only two pumps of flavor and seems like they added the whole bottle, almond-milk is curdled! For $7 that’s ridiculous!!

I paid nearly $19 for a Vietnamese coffee, a matcha, and a brownie. I don't know about you but that is ridiculous, especially when the drinks were very lackluster.
Vietnamese coffee is typically made with robusta beans, with a strong/bitter flavor, and condensed milk. What I received was nothing more than an iced latte that seemed to be 3/4 milk as you could hardly taste the coffee.
The matcha latte might as well have been milk with a hint of matcha, as you can hardly taste the matcha.
The inside of the store decor was fine, although I thought it was very odd that the music was coming from two very large stadium speakers and it was very loud. Also I don't know if the AC wasn't working or if they simply like the temperature at 80 degrees but it was very hot and humid in there.
I really don't mind spending money on GOOD coffee, but this place did not offer that.

I’ve gone to Halcyon for years through college and now as a mom. It’s a great space for all stages of life and has great coffee and tea. It has lots of high chairs for kiddos. It’s also right next to the Thinkery and across the street from a fenced in park!

The coffee here is delicious, and the atmosphere is tranquil. I ordered a black cold brew drink, and it was the best. I've also attended Latin dance classes here on Wednesdays and I had the best time. I learned some salsa and bachata for only a $5 fee. Highly recommend this place.

Halcyon is close to the Thinkery and free parking lot (one of two) located in Mueller Park. It has an informal atmosphere. There are a lot of people on weekends, including children. The menu is limited but they have a bar with alcohol. It's mostly a coffee shop with occasional music early at night. The place gets packed when they do salsa dancing which goes on later. You can always sit down even when it's crowded. <> Like a coffee shop, it includes very informal seating including couches and outdoor furniture. Except for salsa nights and weekends, it's easy to sit inside. (You can still probably manage inside but otherwise use the outdoor seating!) There are other restaurants and coffee shops closeby including Aviator Pizza which shares the building. You have options if you start out with a drink or coffee there.
Parking: Pretty easy to get a parking space in the lot. Sometimes you have to wait but that's usually a few minutes.
Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids on the weekends
