I wanted to love it here, but didn’t. I love the location; the outdoor patio space is inviting, comfortable, and so South Austin. Loved that.
The food was disappointing. My son said his Texas Melt was good. However, we split my cheeseburger and both felt let down. The bun was beautifully toasted. And the goodness ended there.
The beef patty was pre-pressed and frozen (and my burger was rare with a well done crust). It was flat, dense, and not delicious (bulk restaurant supply warehouse quality). With processed American cheese. For a $14 food truck burger, this should have been amazing. I would have loved a juicy 1/3 pound brisket burger with a thick slice of melted cheddar, topped with grilled onions… they got it right with the bun. They just didn’t even try after that.
The potato salad was good, but I would agree with another reviewer that the banana pudding is not homemade. Definitely a powder/milk mix. It was only $3, so I wasn’t totally upset by it.
I would love to see ownership re-look at their ingredients. With such a limited menu, ingredients should be awesome at these price points. With a captive (and hungry) audience in this beautiful environment, this truck should be giving out a much different vibe.
As far as service, I wouldn’t say the staff was “rude”; but maybe disinterested… I won’t eat here again.
Parking: A Sunday at 8pm, and we were right in front.

Fantastic Smoked Turkey! Last time the Brisket - Also fantastic. Doing it right!
Edible absolutely not needed in Austin, I wouldn't order here. Brisket wasn't tender enough and banana pudding from a packet

Food was okay but expensive for a food truck, for $14 cheese burger i can eat in a restaurant. Also the person who takes orders looks like he doesn’t want to work there, he barely look at you, and he looks mad or bad mood, very hostile service. It was the only truck open to get food, so i’m not sure to come back for eating here

This place sucks balls. I rarely write reviews and the person working on the night of Wednesday, August 21st has inspired me. He's absolutely terrible and has treated our entire group terribly. It is before 10pm and they supposedly close at 11pm, but he told me that they are closing and only have nachos. I miss the hot dog place that was here before.
The customer service was good and it didn’t take long to get our order. The sink nachos and Hot Texas Melt were legit. 10/10 highly recommend.

Being that there’s only 2 options for food at Moontower, that’s the only reason I can tell how this place is still in business. The food is fine. But just fine. Nothing special. But the service from the guy today was plain rude and ugly. I asked for a BLT and he quickly grunted ‘I’m not doing the brunch menu today. I haven’t even prepping the potatoes and I’m juggling too many things’… My guy… we were the only person ordering at the time and it’s 1pm. You JUST opened at Noon.So I ordered a BACON burger. WHICH IS JUST A HARDER BLT!! So unnecessarily rude. He seems to need to get out of the business completely.I get not being in the best of moods but being rude in so many ways (that I’m not including here) and just put off by your basic job in the slowest possible moment? The food is not good enough to deal with another angry for no reason guy in the world. And it sure seems like it’s not a one off when reading other reviews. It’s unfortunate that this place is a part of a good bar because it makes me want to choose any of the others outdoor bars right next door.Perhaps that was why there was so few people at Moontower and Armadillo Deb had a full parking lot.

December 2023:While at Moontower Saloon I ordered food at Hot Texas Grills. I got the Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla. It was grilled chicken with melted monterey jack cheese, buffalo sauce and jalapeños with a side of ranch. The quesadilla what pretty huge and cut up in four slices. I was a bit messy to eat but tasted really good. The chicken had a nice flavor grilled on a pit and the jalapeños gave it some heat. A side of ranch sauce was included. It was a heavy meal filling me up for the day. Reminder napkins required where juices will fall out and perfect to pair it with a beer.

Yep, rude service, was told the nachos would take 5 minutes but ended up waiting *30* minutes by this food truck without any notice.Food was okay, serving size was good, price was still high. Nearly $20 to wait half an hour for someone to scoop out some food onto mid chips? Good grief.

If you want bad BBQ with hostile service this is your spot. The guy running this place has a horrible attitude and deserves to go out of business.
Honestly the only good thing about this place is it’s at Moontower Saloon and if you’ve been drinking enough MAYBE it will taste ok. You’ll pay 15 dollars for a burger that is cafeteria quality at best. You’d do better to go get a fast food meal. Sad, I feel like there used to be good food trucks here. Like most aspects of Austin, people are cutting corners everywhere they can and hoping no one notices. I don’t leave many reviews but this was truly substandard.

Attended a party all the food was amazing
This place had hands down the best brisket I’ve ever had in my life, and I’ve been eating brisket in Texas for over 60 years! The turkey, sausage, jalapeño mashed potatoes, macaroni, and cheese. Everything was truly wonderful. This was my first time to ever eat there, and I’ll definitely go back! The stuff was great all the way around my family was definitely impressed :-)
Kid-friendliness: Extremely kid friendly! They had games and activities for the kids to do. I didn’t see everything but I did see some playing volleyball some playing cornhole, a few playing soccer and hacky sack, etc. There was a big field where there were vendors with booths set up selling things.
Parking: We had about 50 in our party and there was plenty of party. It was spread out to where we didn’t have to walk too far.
