We first ate here in 1981 when students at the Episcopal Seminary nearby. Our theology prof treated a few of us new students to lunch and conversation which was the first of many delightful conversations and meals shared with family, friends and colleagues. We hadn't been back in a long time but a trip to Austin gave us an opportunity. Hyde Park still delights. Perfect neighborhood bistro. Does what it does very well. An Austin treasure.
Waiter was very helpful. Greeted us as we came in. It wasn't crowded due to it being a Longhorn home game night. The rush was early in the day. The only thing I was disappointed to see was a couple of the side dishes had been removed, namely the garlic cheese grits. That was one of my favorites. Other than that it was a very enjoyable meal.
Food and service was outstanding, felt like the surrounding patrons were from a nursing home. Very judgmental but hey, that generation is dying off. Definitely a place to continue to enjoy dinner. The chicken fried steak and pan seared chicken was amazing.
