I love the showpony lounge. It's my favorite karaoke spot in Austin. And the bartender, Emily, is amazing. She always makes the patorns feel so welcome.

Final Edit: I'm so glad to share that the management has handled this incredibly well. After an initial email exchange I received a call from a manager that explained the true context of the situation. They shared multiple steps they took to resolve it and preventing it from happening again.

Luckily, the singer was able to address it with them as well that night. It was clarified that an audience member was the person harassing the singer with the photos and they were removed from the premises. My initial (false) impression of the hosts mocking was actually friendly banter between the two as they know one another and the host had not yet seen the image that caused the singer to leave.

Please note this next section of the review was before I had the full scope of the situation. I'm leaving an edited version up to show that the management handled this in a way that should be modeled at all establishments.

I had a disappointing experience at this location after an initially enjoyable evening. I'd like to note all other staff were awesome and the establishment was a great experience.

While attending karaoke, the screen (not the host as initially thought) displayed increasingly inappropriate images, culminating in a deeply offensive photo of George Floyd with the caption "Pink Floyd" during a Black singer's performance.

The atmosphere became uncomfortable, leading my friend and me to leave. The singer and her partner also left immediately. I hope management addresses this behavior to ensure a welcoming environment for all guests.

This place is great!!!

Came in to watch some games. Was pleasantly suprised with the smash burger, super tasty and jusy $6!! Spicy bloody mary also really good. Highly recommend!! TA and Emily took care of me all day

Got here at 11:30 and put a song in immediately at Showpony. I spent $22 on 2 drinks (a vodka tonic and vodka redbull…to stay up late enough to get my song in…) and never got to sing… but the same 4 people got to sing 2-4 times before me. Two of them even got to do seven minute long songs! Never coming back unless they get better KJs or change policy. I’ve never seen this happen at any established karaoke bar in Austin on a SATURDAY when it’s actually busy. Feels like a scam to buy drinks in their karaoke bar when you won’t get to sing because the KJ’s friends get to rule the night.

This guy that was playing and is a dj on sunday 12//8 and did horribly and my for my friends and skipped ppl of that he knows favorably n gav them to sing x2 time n wen my friend was kicked and coz of him he went n asked why n called the security DO NOT EVA GO TO THE BAR.!!!!!!!! Plz fire him

One of the best smash burgers i've had and the fries were really good. The karaoke crowd was fun too

This review is specifically for the brunette that was operating the karaoke tonight 11/29-11/30 from 11:45pm- close, she was chill until she mentioned she had “technical difficulties” trying to rectify the song queue, all in good fun, if she didn’t appear intoxicated operating karaoke for others just trying to enjoy their night (specifically at the end of night).I found it rude that she just found it acceptable to forget how to operate her equipment normally bc she couldn’t handle her drink. In the end, I tried not to invest too much when I brought up the fact that she ruined the song I queued up! (Because you can enjoy your drink and not mess up!) Ultimately, it is what it is, but what really took it was how condescending and unapologetic she was to me personally when confronted so not interested in coming back!

For the record, the bartenders were super cool and friendly and patrons alike. I wish there was a separate category for this on the reviews!

Finally, I don’t like leaving negative reviews! It’s Not my style but it’s good to inform others to be weary of this kind of behavior….

We got the burger of the month which included arugula and black garlic aioli! It was the correct choice. The bartender kindly suggested it to us and I loved it!
The waffle fries were on point! Crispy and fluffy at the same time. It’s possible - they did it.
Highly recommend. The drinks were great too!

The entire bar is a good vibe but tonight I’m reviewing Showpony.
Showpony is their karaoke bar. My group and I have been here since 9 PM and it’s almost midnight (11:46 PM) and none of us have gone yet.

The DJ has a policy that if you pay $2 per spot, you can skip the line how many times you want. Well this Thursday night was packed so I guess many people were taking advantage because my entire group of 8 has yet to go and maybe that’s because we didn’t pay?? I’d hate to imagine a Friday or Saturday… We did see the same girl go at least 5 times already but who knows, maybe she got here very early.

Anyways, Jackalope as a bar is a great vibe with live music sometimes, but if you’re doing karaoke, maybe consider Egos or literally anywhere else. Google will tell you where to go.

Burgers at the downtown used to be incredible. Moved south and tried this location and was quite disappointed. They're ok, but a far cry from one of the best burgers in Austin like it should be.

The service was garbage, the food was amazing, the guy at the entrance was funny, and other than food was the best service, the bartenders ignored me, the drinks were good, but I don’t recommend this place unless you want to eat.
