Tried Johnny Carino’s for the first time because I got a mail coupon and honestly I’m glad I did! The staff was welcoming, I got seated in a booth right away dining solo, and the service felt attentive and relaxed.

The deal included lasagna and steak fettuccine plus nachos and bread, and everything was tasty with generous portions (definitely leftovers-worthy). I also tried the calamari fritta with a fried yellow pepper — nice touch.

For about $16 for that much food, it was a great value and a comfortable dine-in experience. If you get one of those coupons in the mail, I’d recommend using it before it expires OR at some point pay them a visit and start with the nachos :)

We've come here four times now after moving into the neighborhood and I've been impressed each time. We've gotten take out twice and have dined in twice. The service has been incredible; our waiters were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Moreover, the food has been excellent. They have my favourite wings in town, and I've loved their house salad, casear salad, pepperoni pizza, chicken breast with grilled veggies, potato soup and their house margarita's amazing. I can't wait to come back!

If you like strong sweet tea, Johnny Carino's in Southpark Meadows is the best place in south Austin to get it. The sweet tea is worth the trip.

The waiter from the Parmer Lane location was our waiter here. Even though we hadn’t seen him in over 6 months, he recognized us. Same great service. Same terrific food. Our go-to is the Spicy Chicken and Shrimp Romano.

My food was well prepared and yummy. I also love the Pasta Nachos, fried pasta for a nice crunch, covered in olives. Sausage, jalapenos, Alfredo sauce. And the Caesar salad bites back!!

Outstanding Experience at Johnny Carino’s South Austin!

My husband and I had such a wonderful dinner at Johnny Carino’s Italian Restaurant in South Austin. We came in with one of their special invitation bags—the kind you can put a loaf of bread in—that offered a complimentary meal. The offer included an individual nacho appetizer, a ribeye steak with fettuccine, and lasagna. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous. All we had to do was spend five dollars, so my husband ordered a Heineken Zero and I had a Caesar salad. The food was flavorful, fresh, and truly exceeded our expectations.

They also brought out a warm loaf of bread, and it was out of this world. It came with a little plate of crushed garlic, butter, and oil, and the combination was so delicious we could have made a meal out of just that. It was the perfect start to an already wonderful dinner.

What made the evening even better was our server, Julie. She was phenomenal from start to finish. Warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, she explained exactly how the promotion worked and made sure we felt completely taken care of. I mentioned that I’m allergic to onions, and she went above and beyond to ensure that nothing I ordered contained any. Her attention to detail and genuine kindness made the entire experience feel special.

Between the delicious food, the generous offer, the amazing bread, and Julie’s top‑notch service, our visit was outstanding. We left happy, full, and grateful. Johnny Carino’s has definitely earned our praise, and Julie deserves every bit of recognition for her excellent service.

Husband and I stopped in here to use a coupon we got in the mail. My husband got the meatball sub which was served on their bread loaf they bring to the tables. He said it was very good. I had the coupon deal (lasagna, ribeye Alfredo, house salad). The house salad was fresh but could have used pepperoncinis otherwise really good! I actually enjoyed the smaller portion which was perfect for me. The lasagna was the star of the show!!! Tomato sauce has amazing flavor! We ended with the chocolate cake w/ ice cream. It was rich and fluffy. We would come back to try their pizzas.

Food and service were top tier.
The decor is a bit outdated or worn but other than that, had a good experience.

We came in on a week day and it was pretty busy. We had to wait about 30 mins. Kitchen was slow, but Alma, our server, made our visit very joyful and made the wait not seem long. We were the last customers, and we had like a 3 min conversation with her which made our visit very pleasant!
Thank you, Alma :)

I had a very strong dining experience at Carino’s Italian Grill. The food quality, service, and pricing were all impressive.

I ordered the Chicken Parmesan, and it was excellent. The chicken was perfectly crispy, with dry, well-executed breading that wasn’t soggy at all. The Parmesan sauce had great balance and flavor — rich but not overpowering. I’ve tried Chicken Parmesan at many well-known Italian restaurants where the breading was wet or the sauce lacked depth, but this one was executed properly.

The salad was also very fresh — crisp lettuce and high-quality ingredients. You can tell they care about freshness and consistency. The overall cooking felt professional and precise.

Service was attentive, polite, and welcoming. The staff made the experience comfortable without being intrusive.

The pricing was another big plus. For this level of quality, many Italian restaurants would easily charge $40 per entrée. Here it was around $21–22, which makes the value outstanding.

Great food, great service, fair pricing. I highly recommend this place and would definitely return
