Fantastic. Been going here for years. Top 3 bbq spot in Austin, which is high honors in my opinion.

The place looked amazing and our expectations were high, but unfortunately it was disappointing. The food was too spicy for our taste, and they didn’t have brisket, so we ordered the chopped brisket, which was nothing special. On top of that, the long wait in line didn’t feel worth it. There are better BBQ spots in Austin that I’d rather visit.

Still our favorite pork ribs compared to Franklin, plus free beers and much shorter line and wait to get your food

Shorter line than expected before opening (we assumed it was due to the holidays) but line expanded ten fold within 10 minutes of opening. However, even before the restaurant opened, there was note on the door indicating that the brisket was already sold out! There are two lines (one to buy and eat, the other for takeout orders including those orders that were ordered several days in advance). The ribs and pulled pork was good but ah no brisket. We did get free alcohol (three cups of beer on tap) and the beers (IPAs and Pilsner) were all excellent. Parking is limited; small parking lot, and then street parking. There are EDPs in the neighborhood (one man started to curse at everyone he walked by) so just be on alert.
Bonus point: someone told me that the art work inside the bathrooms were good, so I had to see them. No kidding. It's very good art and I felt no more need to go to an art gallery, the wall murals were that good.

I think my expectations were too high. First time eating at a Michelin star rated restaurant.
The wait at noon on Sunday was long (over an hour) in comparison to others we have been to that had far more people in line. Took 3-5 minutes per customer group allowed into restaurant which this day was 2 people per group. Lots of empty tables so not sure if this is normal, but inside process seems very inefficient in comparison to Hard Eight, Terry Black, and Hutchinson Brothers.
Brisket was great. Very tasteful and juicy.
Beef rib was terrible. We got the last 2 ribs (which we knew that) and it was bone and fat and cost $19.95, very little meat.
Pork Ribs were great
Mac and Cheese was amazing. Best thing on menu!

Good BBQ but obnoxious staff. Could they move any slower? I don’t think so. I actually think they deliberately keep people in the sweltering heat to have a long line outside. It’s free marketing for them.

That imo is the best brisket and mac and cheese (shells & cheese) in town! The pork ribs and coleslaw were mid. However, the service is so slow and feels like it creates an unnecessary long wait time. We were waiting in line for over an hour and a half and the whole place inside was full of empty tables.

Sat in line for 5 hours back in April, got heatstroke. LA ran out of a lot of things but managed to get some brisket and pork rib. Bill was atrocious, paid nearly a 20$ tip which is also ridiculous. Anyways, I've worked in catering and I can see what they were trying to do keeping a large line out the door serving one customer at a time... BUT, hands down the best BBQ I've ever had, have been crowing about it for months and would do it all over again knowing the BBQ is just that good. BBQ is nearly as good at other highly reputable establishments that are faster serving, but - not the same. Well done.

Definitely will go back, had a great time and the food was amazing. Liked the brisket and the Mac and cheese the best tbh. I think it’s so nice of you guys to give out free beer while people are waiting in line☺️

Smiles all around and outstanding service! The gentleman at the counter went above and beyond and even gave us the last sausage he found an extra one, after we were initially told they were sold out by 1 pm such a kind gesture.
They also do a great job keeping the public informed with updates, which is really appreciated. This place truly feels like a local gift to the community.
Only suggestion: a little more sliced brisket, especially for a holiday weekend 😉 We’ll definitely be back. oh and the music had us all singing!!

Update Dec ‘25: came back and it was still the best brisket in ATX and the jalapeño sausage was on point!! Love it!
We had lunch at La BBQ today and it was simply amazing. The brisket may be the best in ATX. The jalapeno sausage is definitely the best I have had and all of the sides were very tasty. This is a must stop for anyone who loves BBQ!
