The place looked amazing and our expectations were high, but unfortunately it was disappointing. The food was too spicy for our taste, and they didn’t have brisket, so we ordered the chopped brisket, which was nothing special. On top of that, the long wait in line didn’t feel worth it. There are better BBQ spots in Austin that I’d rather visit.
Shorter line than expected before opening (we assumed it was due to the holidays) but line expanded ten fold within 10 minutes of opening. However, even before the restaurant opened, there was note on the door indicating that the brisket was already sold out! There are two lines (one to buy and eat, the other for takeout orders including those orders that were ordered several days in advance). The ribs and pulled pork was good but ah no brisket. I think my expectations were too high. First time eating at a Michelin star rated restaurant.
The wait at noon on Sunday was long (over an hour) in comparison to others we have been to that had far more people in line. Took 3-5 minutes per customer group allowed into restaurant which this day was 2 people per group. Lots of empty tables so not sure if this is normal, but inside process seems very inefficient in comparison to Hard Eight, Terry Black, and Hutchinson...
